Original job description

Broadcast Graphics & Product · On-Site (Oakville) · Full-time · Reports to: Head of Design

Mobii builds cloud-native products that power live sports for some of the biggest names in broadcasting: Fox Sports, Skydance, NASCAR, IndyCar and more. Our platform drives real-time content production, dynamic broadcast graphics, interactive streaming experiences, and performance analytics that change how fans engage with live sports and how teams understand it.

Our design team covers everything in between: on-air broadcast graphics, AR and 3D, motion for pitches and marketing, and the product design of the applications behind it all. Every designer works across both sides, so the person who animates a race-day overlay may also shape the tool that drives it.

The role

We're hiring an early-career designer who can design products but also work with motion. If you graduated from a strong animation, motion, or interaction design program (co-op or internship experience required), keep reading. This is a chance to create graphics seen by millions of sports fans, bring real innovation, and design products that become part of the fabric of sport.

We're a startup innovating in a niche space, built on patented technology that syncs audio, video, and data at the live edge. Your work will be split primarily between broadcast motion and product design. On the broadcast side, you'll create graphics packages, data-driven overlays, and work in our growing AR and 3D work. On the product side, you'll help us build and refine the applications our clients use every day. You'll also drive R&D: new motion techniques, AR and 3D experiments, and pitch concepts.

You'll be one of a small, hands-on design team where every designer works across everything. You'll get direct mentorship from senior designers, and the room to grow your range fast.

What you'll do: broadcast motion

  • Build broadcast graphics packages: sometimes an elevated package from scratch, sometimes building from a client's existing approved graphics.
  • Design and animate sports overlays, lower-thirds, real-time stat visuals, and branded motion for live broadcast.
  • Invent data-driven storytelling: use our live data and automation to build motion that tells the story behind the numbers, not just displays them.
  • Build real-time graphics in Rive that respond to live game data. If you haven't used Rive, we'll teach you.
  • Help us grow into AR and 3D: design graphics that live and move in 3D space as our broadcast work moves into augmented reality.
  • Produce on-air-ready motion that holds up under live conditions and non-negotiable broadcast deadlines.
  • Create motion for pitches, marketing, and sizzle reels.

What you'll do: product design

  • Design UX and UI for our sports and broadcast applications: user flows, layouts, and interaction patterns.
  • Bring motion into product: microinteractions, transitions, and animated data that make dense, real-time information easier to read.
  • Contribute to our design system, including responsive layouts that work across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Build prototypes and help ship designs straight into working product alongside our developers.
  • Validate decisions through user testing and benchmarking.
  • Take feedback fast and turn it around without losing momentum.

How we work

We're actively adopting AI into our design workflows and taking on new approaches as the industry evolves, from designing in code to speeding up the technical side of motion.

You don't need any of this coming in. We'll teach you the workflow. What we need from you is the eye: timing, composition, typography, and the judgment to know when something is right.

Who you are

  • A recent graduate (or up to ~1 to 2 years in) from a strong animation, motion, or interaction design program. You've done at least one co-op or internship, so you've worked on a real team and shipped real work, not only class projects.
  • Strong motion craft already: clean, polished work with a reel that proves it. Strong in After Effects.
  • A real visual designer, not only an animator: you can build a look and a full graphics system, not just move existing assets.
  • Curious about product and UX: you understand flows and hierarchy, or you're genuinely eager to learn. Comfortable in Figma.
  • A fast learner. You pick up new tools quickly and enjoy figuring out how things work.
  • Excited by live data and automation, and keen to push past traditional broadcast graphics.
  • Fast and focused. You manage your time, stay on task, and turn work around quickly.
  • Coachable and proactive. You take direction well, ask sharp questions, and then run with it.
  • Comfortable working on-site in Oakville five days a week.

Bonus points for

  • Any exposure to Rive or Unreal Engine.
  • A co-op or internship in broadcast, sports media, or a motion studio.
  • UX or product work in your portfolio, even from school or personal projects.
  • Experience with AI tools in your design or motion workflow.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Genuine sports knowledge or fandom.
