Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced EMC Engineer to support electromagnetic compatibility, aircraft certification, and electromagnetic protection activities within the aerospace domain.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of EMI/EMC, electromagnetic theory, signal integrity, transmission lines, antennas, propagation, HIRF, lightning protection, and aerospace certification standards.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic theory.
- Understanding of transmission line phenomena, antennas, propagation, and signal integrity.
- Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC principles and practices.
- Knowledge of 14 CFR 25.954 and 25.981 regulations.
- Understanding of aircraft fuel tank protection against:
- Lightning
- HIRF
- Static electricity
- Other electromagnetic hazards
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and best practices, including:
- DO-160
- SAE ARP
- FAA Advisory Circulars
- Applicable FAA/airworthiness regulations
- Familiarity with regulatory working relationships involving Transport Canada (TC), EASA, and FAA.
- Must be capable of obtaining DAD/DAR status in the EMC discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Support EMC and electromagnetic protection activities for aerospace systems.
- Analyze EMI/EMC, HIRF, lightning, ESD, and related electromagnetic hazards.
- Support compliance with applicable aerospace certification regulations and standards.
- Review and interpret EMC requirements and certification documentation.
- Work with engineering and certification teams to address EMC-related issues.
- Support regulatory interactions with Transport Canada, FAA, and EASA.
- Provide technical input for aircraft electromagnetic protection and certification activities.
- Support the development of compliance evidence and certification documentation.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electromagnetics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in EMC/EMI engineering within the aerospace/aviation industry.
- Strong understanding of aerospace certification requirements and electromagnetic protection.
