About the Opportunity

Modern Technical Staffing is recruiting for an Inside Sales Engineer on behalf of a well-established industrial solutions organization in Concord. This is an inside technical sales and customer support role designed for someone with strong sales drive, technical aptitude, and the ambition to grow into a field-based sales position over time.

Position Summary

Serve as inside technical and commercial support for one or more field-based sales professionals.
Manage an assigned customer portfolio by building strong customer relationships and delivering responsive support.
Use a consultative selling approach over phone, video, and email to uncover customer needs and recommend value-added solutions.
Support sales and profit growth through effective lead management, opportunity tracking, forecasting, pricing discipline, and follow-up.
Collaborate with sales, technical, service, and business development teams to support customer requirements and project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical product selection, application guidance, and sales support to customers and field sales team members.
Identify, qualify, and develop opportunities within an assigned customer portfolio.
Prepare and manage customer call plans, portfolio plans, sales forecasts, and opportunity pipelines.
Respond to inbound technical and commercial inquiries in collaboration with customer service and internal support teams.
Promote solutions that improve customer outcomes while supporting profitable, sustainable sales growth.
Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunity status, win/loss reasons, expected order value, and forecasting updates.
Support pricing, quotation, and negotiation activities in line with company policies and commercial objectives.
Build broader relationships with customer stakeholders to uncover additional growth opportunities.
Maintain strong health, safety, quality, legal, and ethical standards in all customer and internal interactions.

Customer Engagement

Primarily communicate with customers by phone, video calls, and email, with some planned customer visits as required.
Support customer portfolios that include value-focused accounts and customers requiring technical solutions, strong service, and responsive follow-up.
Use a proactive approach to develop opportunities, while also supporting reactive customer needs and inquiries.
Travel may be required approximately 10% to 20% of the time.
Prospecting and outbound customer phone activity may represent approximately 10% to 20% of the role.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Previous experience in a technical or commercial customer-facing role.
Experience managing customer relationships, inquiries, and/or a customer portfolio.
Recognized technical or business qualification, or solid evidence of relevant experience selling B2B products, solutions, or services.
Strong technical learnability and confidence working with product, application, or solution-based sales information.
Target-driven mindset with strong follow-through and a demonstrated drive to get things done.
Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
Strong listening, empathy, and relationship-building skills.
