The rapidly growing team at Moodys Private Client LLP seek to add a Senior Manager, US Tax to its accounting team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The candidate will work with a team of accountants, lawyers and tax professionals. A confident individual who demonstrates initiative and motivation toward continuous improvement of self and firm processes, and who operates with a sense of urgency, and is looking to add value to their clients in a meaningful way is recommended for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Demonstrating an understanding of US tax concepts as they relate to Corporate and Partnership federal and state income tax compliance, including US income tax return review and preparation
- Preparation and review of US corporate tax returns for clients, including Forms 1120, 1120F, 1120-S, 1065, 5471, 5472, FBAR FinCen 114, and related schedules
- Conducting federal and state tax research, thoroughly analyzing US cross-border tax issues and drafting technical memos related to specific client matters
- Utilizing the Canada US Tax Treaty to determine filing positions for cross border clients
- Interacting with the federal and state tax authorities to assist clients in resolving tax audits, notices and issues
- Accountable for engagement planning with junior and senior staff members and scheduling as well as project profitability reports (i.e., budgets, WIP, timely billing)
- Maintain quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues relevant to the client’s business, financial entries and reports
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing 360 feedback and conducting performance reviews
Skills And Experience
- US CPA designation
- Minimum 7 years of relevant US tax experience and strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal corporate income tax law
- Experience with US personal tax is considered an asset
- Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Quick learner, self-starter and exudes a “can do” attitude
