Hourly Rate: $40–$60/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Security Clearance: Active OPG or Bruce Power security clearance strongly preferred
Our client is seeking a Drafting & Modelling Technologist to support their drafting and modelling team. The successful candidate will have experience in 2D/3D design, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and one or more areas of structural, piping, mechanical, or electrical design. Nuclear industry experience and OPG/Bruce Power security clearance are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform drafting and modelling using 2D and 3D design software.
- Support structural design of steel and concrete structures, including connections, shop drawings, and fabrication detailing.
- Develop piping isometrics, piping models, and pipe support designs.
- Develop flow diagrams, including P&IDs and PFDs, and electrical/instrumentation wiring diagrams.
- Develop mechanical details for machines and similar components.
- Support electrical design of stations, including single-line and wiring diagrams.
- Apply BIM in design and modelling activities.
- Use 3D laser scanning equipment during field walkdowns and support post-processing of point cloud data for brownfield design projects.
- Prioritize assigned work and coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
- Work independently and collaborate effectively with peers and other team members.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Architectural, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Proficiency in one or more 2D/3D design packages, including:
- - AVEVA: PDMS E3D Design, AVEVA P&ID, AVEVA Enterprise, AVEVA Point Cloud Manager
- - Autodesk: AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Electrical, Raster Design, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor, BIM Collaborate
- - SolidWorks, SharePoint, Solid Edge
- - CATIA, MicroStation, Intergraph SmartPlant Review, Bentley ProStructures
- Experience in BIM.
- Expertise in one or more areas of structural, piping, mechanical, or electrical design.
- Expertise in computer applications related to the field of technology.
- Good understanding of Nuclear Quality Assurance requirements and applicable industry design standards is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, including CSA, ASME, ASTM, and ACI guides.

- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of peers and other team members.
