Product Manager & Technologist | Industrialized Construction & Modular

Vancouver, BC (On-site) | Permanent, Full-Time | $125,000 to $150,000

Do you love taking a building product from the first whiteboard session all the way to the factory floor and out to market? A Vancouver-based building science and technology company with its own patented, award-winning building system is adding a Product Manager & Technologist to its product and technology team.

This is a brand new role with real influence. You'll shape product strategy, own the roadmap for every product line, and help bring faster, smarter building solutions to Canada's housing supply gap. The company integrates product, process and production across design, engineering and manufacturing, and they want someone who thinks the same way.

This role is for you if you've:

  • Developed products inside modular, prefab, panelized, mass timber or industrialized construction (a building systems manufacturer, modular builder, panel or component maker)
  • Owned the full product lifecycle: early concept sessions, design, prototyping, specifications, materials, costing, manufacturing feasibility and launch
  • Been the bridge between architecture, engineering and production, turning a client's concept into something that can actually be manufactured and built
  • Worked directly with production and manufacturing teams to improve how a product gets made
  • Invented, prototyped or patented something, and you love solving problems with new details, connections or systems

What you'll do:

  • Own the Product Roadmap and development schedules across all product lines
  • Lead product sessions with clients and the internal team to define the type, style and purpose of new products and building solutions
  • Prepare documentation and specifications for consultants, architects and manufacturing that clearly set the product direction
  • Work hands-on with production on manufacturability, cost, efficiency and engineering competitiveness
  • Oversee consultants, architects, technical partners and technicians delivering the product catalogue
  • Be the go-to on the competitive landscape: trends, new materials and what's next in the product space
  • Drive continuous improvement in system design, processes and build performance

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in product development, building systems or industrialized construction
  • A degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture or similar
  • Strong technical grounding in building science, building systems and construction techniques, with a solid feel for structural, mechanical and electrical considerations
  • Project management and budget or cost development experience
  • Comfort with BIM, Revit, AutoCAD or SketchUp
  • A great client-facing manner and the ability to give clear direction on specs, materials, manufacturing and constructability

Big pluses:

  • Structural, modular or structural steel design
  • Prototype and IP development
  • Interior and space planning
  • A background in industrial or product design applied to construction

What makes you stand out:

  • You're creative but practical, and you get excited about invention and innovation
  • You're a self-starter who works independently and stays organized
  • You're a collaborative team player who builds team spirit
  • You care about quality and the details

The details:

  • Permanent, full-time
  • On-site in Vancouver
  • $125,000 to $150,000

If you've built a building product from scratch and want to do it again with a team that's leading, not following, I'd love to chat.
