The Opportunity
Mosaic is seeking a GIS Analyst to work out of one of our Vancouver Island offices in Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay, or Campbell River, British Columbia.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Forest Information Systems (FIS) Services, the GIS Analyst takes on the full range of spatial work across Mosaic’s landbase, from sustainable forestry and watershed services to renewable energy, recreation, real estate and carbon projects. One week might involve improving inherited data and rebuilding a workflow; the next, running an analysis for an operational plan and producing a map series for field crews, or scoping spatial data for a new project. We're looking for someone comfortable taking on an unfamiliar problem and working out how to solve it. Specific responsibilities will vary with business priorities and and will include:
- Conduct spatial analyses that support operational planning and land management decisions - constraint and net-area analysis, terrain modelling, suitability assessment, and change detection;
- Integrate and quality-control spatial data from internal, contractor, provincial, and third-party sources - layouts, as-builts, cruise data, imagery and LiDAR;
- Produce operational maps, map series, and web maps for field crews, reports, and regulatory submissions;
- Automate repetitive analysis and data workflows using Python, ModelBuilder, and FME; and
- Work directly with planners, foresters, and project teams to scope spatial data needs and translate results into clear, actionable insights.
What We’re Seeking:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related spatial discipline;
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in GIS analysis, spatial data management, and cartographic production;
- Solid spatial data QC skills - the ability to find and fix problems in data from a range of sources;
- Strong working knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS Suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise;
- Experience building and maintaining project and file geodatabases, and working within established data standards;
- Experience automating GIS processes using Python, ModelBuilder, and/or FME;
- Working knowledge of relational databases, including MS SQL Server, in a GIS environment;
- Comfort working across a variety of project types, including unfamiliar ones, with limited direction;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
- Ability to collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and manage multiple priorities;
- Familiarity with Trimble Land Resource Manager (LRM), forestry data systems, and coastal BC terrain is considered an asset; and
- Forestry work experience and/or registration with the ABCFP as an RPF or RFT (or eligibility for registration) is considered an asset.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $72,000 to $90,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
