Original job description
Men are dying too young - and it doesn’t have to be that way.
Around the world, men are facing a health crisis: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and suicide. At Movember we’re on a mission to change the face of men’s health by making it easier for men to talk, act and live longer healthier lives.
Every project, every campaign, every idea adds up to real change. You’ll be part of a mustache-powered crew who believe making an impact and having fun should go hand in hand. Your mission is calling.
DO GOOD. Work for Movember.
Your Mo-Mission (should you choose to accept it):
This is a newly created role in our Canadian mental health team, and it’s been built because the portfolio has grown to the point where great program coordination deserves its own dedicated focus.
As Mental Health Coordinator, Canada, you’ll provide the operational and administrative backbone for Movember’s mental health programs across the country. Working across the full portfolio, including sport-health, esports and gaming, community, research, online, and youth advisory, you’ll keep projects organised, documented, and on track, coordinating schedules, meetings, events, and records, and acting as the central coordination point for activity data and outcomes reporting.
Day to day, you’ll support the execution of approved implementation plans, handle partner and event administration, and help the broader team stay clear on deliverables, timelines, and interdependencies. You’ll coordinate meetings across time zones, prepare reports for a range of audiences from government and funders to operational partners, monitor budgets and process invoices, and maintain the kind of centralised, well-organised project documentation that keeps a fast-moving team audit-ready and well-governed.
A distinctive part of this role is supporting the administration of the Canadian youth advisory and the Global Youth Advisory Network. That means managing onboarding, scheduling, opportunity coordination, and remuneration and expense administration for young advisors, all under agreed safeguarding practice.
You’ll report to the Director, Mental Health, Canada, and work closely with the Senior Manager and Program Manager, as well as cross-functional teams across Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, and Policy and Advocacy. It’s a genuinely global role, with regular collaboration across time zones with colleagues and partners in Canada and internationally.
This is a role for someone who takes real pride in the craft of coordination, keeps things organised without becoming rigid, and is genuinely motivated by the belief that getting the operational details right is what allows ambitious mental health programs to actually reach young men. Based in Toronto, 12-month fixed term contract.
No Moustache Required - but the following are:
At least three years of experience in project coordination within health, community, youth advisory, sport, or the not-for-profit sector.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels internally and externally.
Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to tailor information for diverse audiences including government, funders, donors, partners, and operational teams.
Demonstrated project coordination, time management, problem-solving, and risk identification and management skills.
Working knowledge of project monitoring frameworks, evaluation, and learning.
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Sound data management skills and good judgement handling confidential and sensitive information, including young people’s personal data, in line with privacy and safeguarding requirements.
Proficiency with work management and collaboration tools such as Asana and Microsoft 365, and confidence presenting data and reports.
Comfort with budget monitoring and financial administration, including tracking spend, processing invoices, purchase orders, and expenses in Excel.
A genuine passion for improving young men’s mental health through evidence-based programs.
Ability to thrive in a diverse, cross-functional, and globally distributed team, with role expectations that flex by project.
Not Mission Critical - but for extra bonus points:
Experience in sport, esports and gaming, community health, clinical health, or youth advisory settings.
Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and stakeholders.
Proficiency with AI tools and Microsoft 365, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience supporting monitoring, evaluation and learning, impact reporting, or grant administration.
Experience working with young people, for example in youth advisory or co-design settings, with an awareness of safeguarding practice.
Applied skills in mental health program delivery, event management, and relationship management.
Bilingual in English and French, which is an asset for the Canadian market.
GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember, you’ll help turn ideas (and moustaches) into millions for men’s health. Every bit we raise changes the face of men’s health by funding research, improving treatments, and supporting programs that help save lives.
We’re even shaping government policies on men’s health worldwide. By meeting directly with lawmakers, and helping them understand how more investment on men’s health benefits not just men, but all the communities they serve.
GOOD VIBES:
We love weekends. That’s why our Fridays finish early for nine months of the year. But we also love our office vibe. Because here, it always feels like something big is about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an open invite for all to hit the pub.
Come the hairy season, the energy cranks up. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. But, for those who prefer calm, no probs: hybrid working means you work where you feel best.
GOOD CREW:
Spoiler alert: we’re a no-ego, all-impact crew. That means everyone gets a say, from new starters to those leading the charge. Collaboration over hierarchies, curiosity over rigid process. And it’s true across all our offices worldwide. We work as one, sharing expertise and celebrating wins. All in the name of making the biggest impact across the globe. United, we Mo.
Boy, do we know the feeling of being judged. (Over how we look, and other things that shouldn’t matter.) Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.
Movember is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community and workplace - a place where we can all be ourselves, and each have the equal opportunity to succeed and be recognised for our unique contribution. We value the experiences, skills and perspectives of all individuals and actively encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds. We make recruitment decisions based on applicants’ skills, experience, and knowledge, ensuring all applicants are treated fairly. Reasonable accommodations are also available on request for differently abled candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
A quick note on AI
We use our AI mate Joel to help with the first stage of screening. It lets more great candidates move past the application stage and into the process faster. Don’t worry though, real humans make all the final decisions. And if you’d rather skip Joel and chat with a recruiter instead, you’ll always have that option.
Do you want to DO GOOD?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.
