The Opportunity
MSCP is seeking a practical, hands-on
Facilities Maintenance Lead to take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and improvement of our buildings and facilities.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys identifying problems, developing practical solutions, and getting the work done. The successful candidate will complete a broad range of building maintenance and improvement work directly while coordinating qualified trades and contractors when specialized expertise is required.
A strong
carpentry, construction, or general building maintenance background is preferred. The role will regularly involve repairs, modifications, renovations, and improvements across our office, manufacturing, shop, warehouse, and operational spaces.
The Facilities Maintenance Lead will also help develop a more proactive and structured approach to facility maintenance at MSCP. As our operations and facilities continue to grow, this position is intended to take on increasing responsibility and provide a natural career path toward a
Maintenance Manager role.
Responsibilities
Building & Facility Maintenance
- Take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of MSCP buildings, shops, offices, manufacturing areas, warehouses, and surrounding property.
- Perform hands-on general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, doors, framing, drywall, finishing, cabinetry, shelving, fixtures, flooring, and other facility-related work.
- Identify building and facility deficiencies and take ownership of resolving them from initial identification through completion.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify maintenance requirements, deterioration, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain building interiors and exteriors to ensure MSCP facilities remain safe, functional, professional, and well maintained.
- Respond to urgent building and maintenance issues and coordinate timely repairs to minimize disruption to operations.
- Support seasonal building and property maintenance requirements as required.
Preventive Maintenance & Building Systems
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain practical preventive maintenance programs and schedules for MSCP facilities and building systems.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, overhead doors, building controls, and other facility systems.
- Complete maintenance and repairs within your capabilities while recognizing when a licensed or specialized trade is required.
- Coordinate qualified trades and service providers for specialized maintenance, inspections, repairs, and certifications.
- Monitor recurring maintenance issues and identify long-term solutions rather than relying on repeated temporary repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, deficiencies, and completed work.
Facility Projects & Improvements
- Plan and complete small renovations, facility modifications, workspace improvements, and construction projects.
- Support the installation, relocation, and modification of workspaces, equipment, storage systems, offices, and shop infrastructure.
- Assist with planning and coordinating larger renovations, facility improvements, and capital projects.
- Work closely with Operations and Manufacturing to ensure facilities continue to support changing production and business requirements.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve the safety, functionality, reliability, appearance, and cost-effectiveness of MSCP facilities.
- Help develop longer-term maintenance and facility improvement priorities as the organization grows.
Contractors & Service Providers
- Coordinate external contractors, trades, and service providers when specialized work is required.
- Obtain quotes and assist with evaluating repair options, contractors, materials, and equipment.
- Schedule contractor activities to minimize disruption to MSCP operations.
- Coordinate contractor access and ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with MSCP requirements.
- Monitor contractor workmanship, progress, and completion.
- Verify that contracted work has been completed to an appropriate standard before closing out the work.
Planning & Organization
- Prioritize maintenance requests based on safety, operational impact, urgency, and business requirements.
- Track outstanding maintenance items and ensure issues are followed through to completion.
- Maintain appropriate inventories of maintenance tools, materials, replacement parts, and commonly required supplies.
- Maintain organized records of building information, equipment documentation, warranties, service records, inspections, and contractor information.
- Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost tracking, and planning for upcoming repairs and facility improvements.
- Help establish the systems, processes, and standards required to support a growing maintenance function.
Safety & Operational Support
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with applicable regulations, codes, manufacturer requirements, and MSCP procedures.
- Identify and address facility-related hazards before they create safety or operational issues.
- Participate in MSCP's health and safety program, inspections, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Safety, and other teams to ensure MSCP's facilities effectively support the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Carpentry, construction, building maintenance, or facilities maintenance background strongly preferred.
- Journeyperson Carpenter certification, Red Seal certification, or another relevant trade qualification is considered a strong asset but is not required.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction, property maintenance, manufacturing facilities, or a related environment.
- Strong hands-on capability with general building repairs, renovations, and maintenance.
- Broad working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
- Experience coordinating contractors, trades, service providers, or small construction and renovation projects.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Experience developing or working within preventive maintenance programs is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow work through to completion.
- Comfortable using computers and digital systems to manage maintenance records, schedules, documentation, and work requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's licence in good standing.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who
takes ownership of the buildings they are responsible for.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, construction-minded, comfortable working with their hands, and able to recognize what needs attention before it becomes a larger problem.
One day may involve coordinating an HVAC contractor or planning a renovation; another may involve repairing a door, building shelving, modifying a workspace, completing carpentry work, or troubleshooting an issue in the shop.
You should be comfortable deciding whether something can be repaired internally or requires a qualified trade and then taking responsibility for making sure the work gets completed.
The Right Person Will
- Take initiative and follow issues through to completion.
- Have strong carpentry and general construction skills.
- Be comfortable performing hands-on maintenance and repair work.
- Be mechanically inclined and capable of troubleshooting a broad range of building issues.
- Take pride in maintaining clean, safe, functional, and professional facilities.
- Be organized and capable of balancing planned maintenance with unexpected priorities.
- Work effectively with employees, leadership, contractors, and trades.
- Look for opportunities to improve rather than simply maintain the status quo.
- Be interested in growing their responsibilities as MSCP continues to expand.
Career Growth
This position is intended to grow alongside MSCP and our facilities.
As the scope and complexity of our maintenance requirements increase, the
Facilities Maintenance Lead will have the opportunity to assume greater responsibility for maintenance planning, budgets, contractors, capital improvements, facility projects, systems, and future maintenance personnel.
For the right individual, this creates a natural career progression from
Facilities Maintenance Lead to Maintenance Manager.
Why Join MSCP?

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys
building, fixing, improving, and taking ownership rather than simply managing maintenance requests.
