Original job description

MSL is a global public relations firm focused on building influence that delivers meaningful impact for business and society. We bring together strategists, storytellers, and creators to help brands and leaders earn attention, trust, and relevance in a public environment shaped by platforms, algorithms, and generative AI.

Our work is grounded in a simple belief: influence isn’t about volume or visibility alone. It’s about shaping how people perceive, talk about, and act on what brands put into the world. That requires deep audience understanding, strong judgment, and communications that feel credible, human, and timely.

Across markets and categories, we partner with organizations of all sizes to navigate change, build connection, and strengthen their role in culture and community. It’s our people, their curiosity, craft, and care for the work, that turns strategy into stories and ideas into lasting impact.

Overview

As an Account Director, you will serve as a trusted counselor to senior clients, leading integrated teams and overseeing programs that earn attention, build trust and deliver measurable impact. You bring strong judgment across earned media, influencer, and social, paired with creative thinking and disciplined execution.

You will lead complex, multi-channel campaigns for global brands, spanning earned media, influencer, social, experiential, and digital. Your role blends strategic leadership with hands-on management, ensuring ideas are sound, delivery is seamless, and teams are set up to do their best work.

You’ll also play an operational role within MSL, contributing to how we plan, pitch, and grow. As a people and committee manager, you’ll support career development, set clear expectations, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day client relationships, providing senior counsel and ensuring delivery against objectives, budgets, and KPIs
Oversee the development of integrated communications plans across earned, influencer, and digital channels
Partner with creative, strategy, and media teams to bring ideas to life across the full PESO ecosystem
Lead brainstorming and ideation sessions that produce culturally relevant, talkable ideas
Guide and mentor several large teams of talented practitioners - fostering growth, accountability, and creativity
Contribute to agency growth through strategic planning, new biz pitching, and presentation excellence
Manage several large annual client budgets, managing monthly billing and oversee forecasting, and account profitability
Manage three to four direct reports, with responsibility to mentor and guide career growth and encourage alignment with MSL values
Uphold MSL’s culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

8–12 years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, or integrated marketing
Proven expertise in creative strategy & planning
Deep experience in influencer, social, and earned media integration
Strong creative instincts paired with disciplined strategic thinking
Skilled at leading large accounts, managing complex programs, and inspiring teams
Financially astute with a track record of managing budgets and delivering results
Direct report management experience
Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and adaptable - thrives in a fast-moving, evolving environment

Additional Information

At MSL, you’ll do meaningful work for some of the world’s most influential brands - alongside a team that values ambition, creativity, and authenticity.

We offer:

Competitive compensation and benefits, including generous vacation and mental health support
Hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling
Parental leave top-up and professional development allowances
Regular social events, wellness programs, and volunteer opportunities
Access to world-class learning and leadership development through Publicis Groupe
A culture that celebrates collaboration, innovation, and career growth
This is a hybrid role tied to our Toronto office.

Salary

Transparency matters to us. The salary range for this position is CAD $105K-$115K per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and applicable certifications. This range reflects what we reasonably expect to offer based on current market data.

AI Use

We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of our hiring process, such as reviewing applications or analyzing resumes. These tools assist our recruitment team but never replace human decision-making. We believe in a human-first approach, where your experience and potential are recognized by people.

We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. Accommodations are available throughout the hiring process upon request.

To apply, click “I’m Interested” and submit your resume. We thank all applicants for their interest - only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Note that only those being considered for an interview will be contacted. Thank you very much for your interest in working at MSLGROUP Canada. We look forward to meeting you! MSL is committed to workplace diversity and will provide accommodation to applicants with disabilities throughout the hiring process.
