Business Development Manager - CPG / Retail

Bilingual (FR/EN)

Location: Montreal, QC – In Office / Travel Required

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 Base + Bonus/Commission

OTE: $80,000–$100,000+

Territory: Canada or United States

We are proud to support our client in hiring a Business Development Manager – CPG / Retail as they continue to expand their presence with major retailers across North America.

Our client is an established and growing organization within the food and consumer packaged goods industry, offering a diverse portfolio of products and brands across multiple channels.

This is a true new business development opportunity for someone who knows what it takes to get a product onto the shelf. We are looking for someone who has worked within a smaller, growing, or emerging CPG organization where winning retail business required persistence, creativity, and strong relationships.

What Will You Do?

Identify and pursue strategic new retail opportunities across your assigned Canadian or U.S. market
Build a pipeline of prospective grocery, mass, club, convenience, pharmacy, and other retail accounts
Prospect and develop relationships with buyers, category managers, merchants, procurement teams, and other key decision-makers
Find creative ways to open doors with difficult-to-reach retail organizations
Negotiate opportunities and work toward winning new shelf space, SKUs, and distribution
Manage the business development process from initial prospecting through to securing the account
Help develop newly acquired customers by identifying opportunities for additional products, SKUs, locations, and regions
Work cross-functionally with internal sales, marketing, operations, quality, and product teams to successfully launch new accounts
Attend customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows as required

What Do You Bring?

2–5+ years of experience in CPG, food, retail sales, or business development
Bilingual (FR/EN)
Proven experience selling products into retail organizations
Experience working with a smaller or mid-sized CPG company, challenger brand, emerging brand, manufacturer, importer, distributor, or private-label organization is strongly preferred
A track record of personally developing and opening new retail accounts
Experience securing new product listings, shelf space, SKUs, or distribution
Strong understanding of how to sell a product or brand that does not already have significant consumer awareness

Responsibilities
