As we continue to expand our manufacturing capabilities, advanced processing technology plays an increasingly critical role in driving efficiency, material quality, and operational excellence. We are looking for a skilled, safety-conscious, and hands-on Extrusion Process Technician to join our team at our North York facility and help optimize our recycling extrusion operations.

Located at our 400 Fenmar facility, this is a high-impact opportunity for a technical manufacturing professional who takes pride in operating advanced recycling machinery, solving process challenges, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and output quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Extrusion & Equipment Operation: Set up, start up, operate, monitor, and safely shut down NGR recycling extrusion lines and Genox shredder systems in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Process Optimization & Control: Continuously monitor and fine-tune critical processing parameters (cutter-compactor speed, screw speed, melt temperature zones, melt pressure, vacuum levels, and pelletizer settings) to ensure stable, high-efficiency production.
- Quality Assurance & Testing: Inspect finished pellet output for sizing, moisture content, melt consistency, color uniformity, and contamination; log quality data accurately and initiate immediate corrective actions on off-spec runs.
- Troubleshooting & Mechanical Support: Diagnose and resolve operational issues including polymer bridging, melt flow inconsistencies, screen blockages, and pelletizer jams; perform routine tooling adjustments, die plate cleaning, and screen changes.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform daily routine maintenance on extrusion lines, cutter-compactors, and feeding systems; partner with the industrial maintenance team on scheduled repairs, diagnostics, and PM cycles.
- Material & Silo Management: Safely stage, blend, and feed film scrap, regrind, and additives; safely execute silo cleaning, material changeovers, and equipment emptying procedures while tracking material consumption.
- Safety, LOTO & Housekeeping: Strictly uphold all Ontario health and safety standards, company PPE mandates, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols; maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work station (5S).
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- Education: Technical diploma or vocational certificate in Plastics Processing, Industrial/Mechanical Maintenance, Process Operations, or a related manufacturing discipline is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience is highly valued.
- Experience: Minimum of two to three (2–3) years of direct, hands-on experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting extrusion or plastic recycling lines in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Core Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of polymer processing fundamentals, melt filtration, resin behavior (e.g., LDPE, HDPE, PP, PET), and pelletizing mechanics.
- Equipment Proficiency: Prior experience operating NGR, Erema, or similar recycling extrusion lines and industrial shredders/granulators (Genox) is an asset.
- Tooling & Measurement: Hands-on experience using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, temperature gauges) and adjusting hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal equipment parameters.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving mindset, high attention to detail, reliability, and clear communication skills when collaborating with shift supervisors, maintenance mechanics, and quality personnel.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Role is 100% on-site within an active manufacturing and production plant environment at our 400 Fenmar location.
- Exposure to industrial machinery, heat, noise, dust, and moving mechanical parts (PPE required and provided).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and safely lift/move raw materials and tooling weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work shift-based schedules (including rotating, day, afternoon, or night shifts as required by plant operational schedules).
