Original job description

Business Development Manager | Freight Logistics Edmonton–Red Deer, Alberta | Full-time, permanent

Can you turn a customer conversation into freight that actually ships?

We’re looking for a field-based Business Development Manager who knows how to open doors, grow accounts and close profitable business. You’ll own a territory spanning Edmonton and Red Deer, with the support of Pricing and Operations to build rates and service plans customers can count on.

What you’ll do

Prospect and meet customers in person, targeting six to eight purposeful visits per field day. Build new business while growing and protecting existing accounts. Turn shipping needs into qualified pricing requests, proposals and awarded freight. Stay involved through implementation and the first shipment. A signed rate means little until the freight moves. Manage rate renewals, spot account risks and keep a reliable pipeline and Sales Dashboard.

What success looks like

You bring in at least four qualified pricing requests a week, work toward a 40% close rate on decided opportunities, and grow revenue through active, retained shipments. You follow through, know your numbers and build relationships that last.

What you bring

A track record in field-based B2B sales: prospecting, discovery, negotiation, closing and account growth. You can plan your territory, manage a CRM, work independently and collaborate across teams. Freight or logistics sales experience is an asset. A valid driver’s licence and regular travel throughout the territory are required.

What’s offered

$70,000–$75,000 starting salary, based on experience, plus a bonus under the applicable written plan. Company-paid benefits and pension, a laptop and cell phone, and business travel expenses under company policy. Benefits include dental, extended health and vision care.

If you’re a sales professional who wants to win business, see it move and build a territory with staying power, apply through careers@mustangfreight.com.
