Original job description

About Myant:

Myant is building technologies that connect people, machines and intelligence through advanced textile computing, materials science, AI and connected health technologies.

Within the Myant ecosystem, Myant Health is focused on transforming healthcare through the Internet of Humans: connecting people, AI and machines through intelligent textile-based interfaces and continuous health measurement. Our SKIIN™ technology transforms everyday clothing into a sophisticated health interface capable of capturing meaningful, clinical-grade health information, while HumanOS provides the platform for bringing together data from textile sensors, medical devices, wearables and other connected technologies to create a more continuous view of human health.

Myant Health is currently focused on objective measurement and accessible diagnostic solutions across areas including cardiovascular health, sleep, hypertension, diabetes and musculoskeletal health. Our work includes solutions such as 14-day cardiac monitoring, home sleep apnea testing and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, with a broader vision of creating continuous diagnostic and, ultimately, therapeutic interfaces that can become part of everyday life.

The technology and innovation behind these products are supported by a broader Myant R&D environment spanning textile computing, advanced materials, electronics, software, AI, biometrics, chemical processing and manufacturing technologies.

This includes MyantX, our advanced research and innovation organization, which builds on a strong history of industrial research and applied technology development. MyantX operates at the intersection of materials, manufacturing, electronics, sensing and emerging technologies, helping translate advanced research into practical technologies and commercial applications.

Together, Myant, Myant Health and MyantX operate within a highly multidisciplinary environment that brings together research laboratories, advanced materials and chemical processing, engineering, textile and electronics development, controlled manufacturing environments and medical-device development and manufacturing. This creates a unique environment for professionals who want to work at the intersection of advanced technology, research, manufacturing, quality, safety and regulated healthcare.

At Myant, you will have the opportunity to work alongside scientists, engineers, researchers, manufacturing specialists, healthcare professionals and technology teams to help build technologies that move from fundamental research and experimentation through development and ultimately toward real-world applications.

We are not simply developing individual products. We are building an interconnected technology ecosystem, from advanced research and materials through textile computing, intelligent sensing and connected health, with the potential to change how people interact with technology and manage their health.

Role Overview:

Myant is seeking a Clinical Scientist to join our Clinical Sciences team. In this role, you will contribute to the research, development, testing, and clinical validation of innovative medical devices and connected health technologies built on Myant's proprietary e-textile platform.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support the design and execution of clinical research studies, prepare REB submissions, and support external research teams that use the Skiin platform in their studies. You will also evaluate clinical and research applications of Myant physiological monitoring technologies and investigate how Myant products can be integrated into research, healthcare delivery and everyday health management.

The successful candidate will bring strong scientific and analytical capabilities, an understanding of clinical research methodologies, and the ability to translate clinical needs and research findings into practical product development insights. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to emerging technologies at the intersection of healthcare, biomedical engineering, and wearable technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Research & Ethics

Design, plan and run clinical and human-subject studies, including product validation, from protocol through data collection.
Develop and amend protocols, consent forms and study documents, and manage Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions, amendments and renewals in line with regulatory and company quality requirements.
Analyze and interpret clinical and user research data, and lead scientific abstracts, manuscripts, white papers and conference presentations.
Conduct literature reviews to identify new clinical opportunities and inform study design and product direction.

Clinical Product Development & Integration

Research, test and demonstrate the clinical benefit of physiological measurement using wearable and e-textile sensing technologies.
Contribute clinical input to the ideation, design and validation of new wearable medical devices, working with engineering and product teams to translate clinical needs into product requirements, test methods and validation activities.
Support prototype testing and evaluation, troubleshoot technical and usability issues, and communicate findings to relevant team members.

Identify how Myant technologies fit into clinical workflows, healthcare delivery, care pathways and preventive health management.
Study user experience, behaviour and engagement across diverse populations, including older adults, people with health conditions and healthcare professionals, to improve the accuracy, usability and clinical relevance of Myant products.

Research Partnerships

Identify research partners and support contract preparation and sign-off, so that research collaborations deliver value to Myant.
Act as the main scientific contact for universities, hospitals and other external researchers using the Skiin platform, and resolve blockers so their studies run smoothly.

Qualifications:

Master's or PhD degree in Clinical Sciences, Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
2–5 years of clinical research, clinical practice or applied healthcare experience, including study design, protocol development and REB submissions.
Research experience with wearables and cardiovascular health is a strong asset; experience in geriatric care, rehabilitation or chronic disease management is also an asset.
Biostatistics skills (R, Python or SAS) are considered a strong asset.
Understanding of physiological signals, biosignal measurement, and signal processing techniques is considered a strong asset.
Product design experience, or experience working closely with product teams, is considered an asset.
Strong analytical and scientific writing skills, with the ability to interpret scientific literature and translate findings into practical recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary R&D environment.
