Kitchener, Ontario

‍

Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Location: Kitchener, ON (Trillium / Homer Watson Industrial Park)

Reports To: Production Lead

‍

About Mycionics

We are a strong, multidisciplinary mechatronics team where every member directly contributes to the product. We design, prototype, fabricate, and industrialize full robotic systems - spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, AI/ML, and data analytics - and deploy them globally to customers across three continents.

The Role

We are seeking a versatile and robust Mechanical Assembly Technician to build and deploy our large-scale agricultural robots. This role is physically dynamic; you will be assembling precision robotic arms in our shop one week and traveling to a customer site to rig and install the system the next.

You will join our production team, working alongside electrical technicians and assemblers to take machines from parts-on-a-pallet to fully operational robotic cells. We need someone with a strong mechanical intuition, someone who knows how to properly align linear rails, tension belts, and use power tools with precision rather than brute force.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Assembly: Assemble complex robotic systems including structural framing, linear motion guides, belt drives, and pneumatic systems.
Site Installation: Travel to customer sites (domestic and international) to install racking, structural frames, and robotic units, often working in tight spaces or at heights.
Rigging & Handling: Safely operate forklifts and lifting equipment to move heavy machinery and position components during assembly and install.
Precision Work: Execute detailed assembly tasks requiring proper alignment, indexing, and the correct application of fasteners and adhesives (e.g., Loctite).
Feedback Loop: Identify assembly issues or design conflicts during the build process and communicate them effectively to the engineering team to improve future designs.

Technical Qualifications

Experience: 3+ years of industrial experience in automation, machine building, or millwrighting.
Education: College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Millwright certification, or equivalent trade experience. Note: Candidates with significant relevant experience will be considered without specific educational credentials.
Tools: Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery (drill presses, bandsaws, etc.).
Heavy Equipment: Valid Forklift Certification and experience with rigging/hoisting heavy loads.
Travel: Valid Driver's License and ability to travel internationally for field installations.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Robotics/Automation: Experience with industrial automation or robotics assembly.
Electrical Basics: Familiarity with electrical assembly or cable routing is a strong asset.
Fabrication: Machining or welding skills for modifying parts during prototype builds.

Who You Are

Mechanically Inclined: You have a natural aptitude for how things fit together and treat sensitive components with care.
Adaptable & Resilient: You are comfortable working in a clean assembly shop as well as on-site at a farm, handling shifting priorities and environments.
Safety Conscious: You are hyper-aware of safety protocols, especially when working with heavy loads and moving machinery.

Why Join Mycionics?

Global Impact: We deploy systems to customers on three continents, offering opportunities for international travel.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in a facility where you see the physical machine being built next to you. You will collaborate closely with electrical, software, and AI teams to see your mechanical designs come to life.
Benefits & Wellness: We offer a comprehensive benefits package including extended health care, dental, vision care, and a Health Spending Account (HSA).
Environment: Based in the industrial hub of Kitchener with free on-site parking.
Culture: A collaborative team environment with casual dress, company events, and social hours.
