Original job description

We are recruiting a Senior Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Functional Advisor / Architect to support the continued evolution of a complex enterprise D365 environment.

This is a senior, hands-on functional role.

The successful candidate will combine strong D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management expertise with the ability to operate at an architecture and advisory level, present to senior executives, lead functional workshops, configure the platform, and translate business requirements into scalable D365 solutions.

This is not a coding role.

You will work closely with developers and technical teams, but your value will come from understanding D365 F&O deeply from the functional side, making sound configuration and design decisions, challenging unnecessary customization, and helping the business get the most from the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior functional leadership across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.
Present overall business solution architecture and recommendations to Vice Presidents, Steering Committees and Executive Sponsors.
Work with business leaders, technical teams and vendor partners to define target-state capabilities and final solution designs.
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Commercial, Operations and IT teams to analyze current processes and translate business requirements into scalable D365 solutions.
Lead workshops with business users, consultants and functional leads to address enhancements, defects, process changes and future-state requirements.
Work hands-on with D365 configuration and functional solution design.
Develop functional designs, configuration documentation and implementation specifications for D365 Finance & SCM.
Recommend standard D365 functionality, third-party/ISV solutions or customization based on business requirements and Microsoft best practices.
Review major configuration and business-process changes and identify deviations from established design principles or best practices.
Support D365 implementations alongside Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, D365 Functional Consultants, Developers, Quality Assurance and Data Analytics teams.
Guide business users through testing, training and adoption activities.
Define functional requirements for integrations, data migration, reporting, security and custom development.
Recommend and design cross-functional and cross-platform solutions incorporating technologies such as Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric and Application Insights.
Troubleshoot complex functional issues across process, configuration, data and integration dependencies.
Maintain strong alignment between business strategy, regulatory requirements and technology execution.

Required Experience

Minimum 10 years of related business or enterprise systems experience.
Minimum 3 years of direct experience implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
Strong hands-on functional configuration experience with D365 F&O.
Deep functional knowledge of Finance and Supply Chain Management.
Strong experience with:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Fixed Assets
- Cash and Bank Management
- Multi-currency management
- Cost Management
Experience conducting requirements workshops, fit-gap analysis, business-process redesign and future-state solution design.
Strong understanding of D365 implementation methodology and enterprise ERP delivery.
Experience working closely with developers and technical architects without needing to personally perform software development.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to communicate solutions to both senior executives and technical delivery teams.
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and training to diverse stakeholder groups.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to challenge requirements constructively and recommend practical, scalable solutions.

Additional Experience Of Interest

Experience in any of the following would be highly valuable:

D365 Commerce
Warehousing
Manufacturing
Trade allowance management
Credit and collections
Budgeting and project budgeting
Project accounting
Expense management
Financial reporting
Inventory costing and accounting
D365 data migration and integration
D365 third-party/ISV solutions
Power Platform
Microsoft Fabric
Application Insights
Microsoft 365 ecosystem

A CPA or other professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.

Education

Technical diploma or undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Compensation & Benefits

The organization offers a strong total-rewards package including:

Base salary of $130,000–$145,000.
Annual performance incentive typically ranging from 10%–20%.
Three weeks of vacation to start, with flexibility based on experience.
Option to purchase an additional week of vacation.
Comprehensive pension program.
Full health and dental benefits, including 100% dental coverage.
Enhanced mental-health and wellness benefits.
Employee fitness and partner programs.
Employee student-bursary programs.
Flexible Remote-Flex work arrangement.

Who Will Succeed

The strongest candidate will be someone who can operate comfortably at both the executive table and inside Dynamics 365.

You can present a target-state solution to senior leadership in the morning, facilitate a Finance workshop in the afternoon, and then get into D365 F&O to understand exactly how the solution should be configured.

You are hands-on, functional, pragmatic and comfortable challenging both business requirements and technical assumptions.

You do not need to write code.

You do need to understand Dynamics 365 F&O deeply enough to make good architecture, configuration and business-process decisions.
