NAIT's Application Integrations team connects the systems that run the institution, including Workday, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Salesforce and ServiceNow, along with a wide range of other campus and vendor applications. Our integrations work behind the scenes to support students and staff at every stage of their experience with NAIT.
Our team delivers a modern, event-driven, API-first cloud integration platform that connects systems across the institution, and we're bringing AI-assisted development into how we design, build, test and document our work. Over the next few years, we'll lead several major integration initiatives as we modernize core systems and launch new digital services for students and staff.
We're looking for a hands-on senior analyst who writes quality code and takes ownership of problems from diagnosis through to a tested, documented fix. We expect our tools to change, so we care more about how you approach integration problems than which platforms you've used. If you have strong engineering fundamentals, we'll teach you our stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Build integrations. Design, build, test, deploy and support integrations between enterprise systems using NAIT's integration stack (SnapLogic, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Functions, SQL).
- Own the whole lifecycle. Gather requirements with business units and vendors, then handle design, build, testing, user acceptance support, change management, production support and hand-off. Follow issues through to resolution, including with external vendors.
- Shape the platform. Help define and apply integration standards: event-driven patterns, message contracts, API design, error handling and idempotency, monitoring, and secrets management.
- Keep quality high. Review peers' code and pipelines, write automated tests, use source control and deployment pipelines, and mentor other analysts.
- Work with data. Write and tune complex SQL. Troubleshoot data quality and survivorship issues across person, student and employee data, including master data management (MDM).
- Use AI responsibly. Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up design, coding, testing and documentation, following NAIT's AI governance and data classification standards.
- Work as part of the team. Take part in Scrum ceremonies, estimate and track work in Azure DevOps, and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Support production. Monitor and support production integrations, [including occasional after-hours support for critical issues].
- Contribute to major initiatives. Provide integration design and delivery for institutional projects such as Workday, Slate, the digital student ID and future student system work.
Skills And Abilities
Required for the role:
- Strong SQL skills: complex queries, performance tuning and data troubleshooting on relational databases (SQL Server and/or Oracle).
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language. C#/.NET is preferred; Python, Java or TypeScript are also considered.
- Solid understanding of APIs (REST and SOAP), JSON and XML, authentication (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect), and messaging concepts (queues, topics, retries, idempotency).
- Software engineering practices: Git, automated testing, CI/CD and code review.
- Sound integration design judgment: when to use batch or real-time, how to handle errors and reprocessing, and what makes an integration supportable.
- Strong sense of ownership. You work independently, drive problems to resolution and follow up with stakeholders and vendors without being prompted.
- Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Curiosity and adaptability. You learn new platforms quickly and are comfortable while tools and approaches are changing.
Assets To The Role
- Experience with an integration platform (iPaaS) such as SnapLogic, Boomi, MuleSoft, or Azure Logic Apps.
- Microsoft Azure: Service Bus, Functions, API Management, Key Vault, Cosmos DB, or infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform).
- Integration experience with Workday, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Salesforce, ServiceNow or Slate.
- Identity and access: Entra ID / Azure AD B2C, SailPoint, Active Directory, SAML and OIDC single sign-on.
- Master data management (for example, Semarchy), data modelling, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Hands-on use of AI coding assistants (for example GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Codex) within a disciplined review and testing workflow.
- Experience in post-secondary or public sector environments, and with Agile/Scrum.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field (a degree is an asset), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- [5+] years of experience in systems integration, software development or data engineering, including building and supporting integrations in production
- Relevant certifications (for example Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, SnapLogic, Salesforce or Workday integration) are an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
