Original job description

The big picture

For almost 20 years, Nascent has helped build digital products for partners like TELUS, Cineplex, Mastercard, PayPal and RBC, and other organizations who are passionate about creating great digital experiences that make an impact on their customers.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who owns the design journey from discovery through execution; someone who can take a messy, ambiguous problem and turn it into something clear, useful, and beautifully built. You get to the bottom of the "why," talk directly with users and clients, challenge assumptions, and uncover what actually needs to be created. You move effortlessly from strategy and research into polished UX and UI, staying close to the details all the way through delivery.

You don’t just deliver static screens - you think through the entire system, motion, and interaction. You’re a low-ego collaborator who works shoulder-to-shoulder with clients, delivery, developers, and QA to build products that aren't just visually engaging, but truly work in the real world.

Why you’re right for this full-time, in-office opportunity

We believe great design comes from understanding people and solving real problems, not just producing wireframes. We value end-to-end craft, clear thinking, and strong cross-functional ownership.

You bring clarity to ambiguity: You dig into complex problems through discovery, research, audits, and workshops to uncover actionable insights before jumping to solutions.
You balance craft with reality: You design with intent, balancing user needs, client business objectives, and technical feasibility to define viable, impactful solutions.
You own the full spectrum of design: You move fluidly from strategy, user flows, and wireframes to high-fidelity UI, interactive prototypes, and scalable design systems for web and mobile.
You articulate the "why": You’re an empathetic communicator who confidently presents rationale, aligns stakeholders, and facilitates healthy debate that makes the work better.
You stay close through delivery: You partner actively with developers and QA to ensure design integrity holds up from prototype to final build.
You have true ownership: You don’t wait to be told what’s next. You roll up your sleeves and jump in wherever needed - whether that's refining a design pattern or untangling a brand-new problem.

A sneak peek at what you’ll be doing

Lead discovery and research: Plan and run user interviews, testing, and audits to extract insights that inform product strategy and UX direction.
Facilitate alignment: Run collaborative workshops with clients and cross-functional teams to explore ideas, solve bottlenecks, and make decisive calls.
Design polished end-to-end experiences: Create intuitive flows, wireframes, interaction prototypes, and production-ready UI for web and mobile.
Build and evolve design systems: Establish reusable components, interaction patterns, and visual foundations that ensure consistency and speed across products.
Drive delivery quality: Work side-by-side with engineering and QA throughout implementation to troubleshoot edge cases and guarantee design fidelity in production.

What you bring to the table

Excitement to work side-by-side with the team each day at our Toronto office
A love for collaboration, real-time ideating, and low-ego problem-solving
7+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI, or digital design delivering web and mobile products
A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, user research, interaction design, and high-craft UI
Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools

Salary Range

$90,000 - $120,000

At Nascent, we’re committed to creating an inclusive work environment where everyone can do their best. If you need accommodations at any stage of the hiring process, please let us know, and we’ll work with you to find what works best.
