Original job description

We are seeking talented, resourceful, and delivery-focused software developers to join our global engineering team. These roles contribute to Java-based applications used by demanding customers across the financial securities industry, with a focus on building reliable, scalable, cloud-ready solutions. You will work with a collaborative development team using iterative delivery methods to create high-quality professional web-based and back-end server applications. The ideal candidate has strong Java engineering fundamentals, Spring Boot experience, a commitment to automated testing and code quality, and an interest in AWS modernization, CI/CD automation, and resilient production delivery.

The Software Developer will partner with development, QA, DevOps, and operations teams to design, engineer, develop, test, deploy, and support cloud-enabled application solutions. Responsibilities include application design and development, modernizing deployment practices, implementing CI/CD pipelines, writing infrastructure as code using Terraform, supporting AWS cloud configuration and deployment, improving monitoring and operational visibility, troubleshooting production and pre-production issues, and strengthening security, connectivity, and release reliability.

Candidates should have professional software development experience or equivalent hands-on experience building, testing, and supporting enterprise applications. A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred, but practical experience with Java application development, cloud technologies, DevOps tooling, and production-quality delivery is highly valued.

Work Schedule and Support Requirements: This position requires a non-standard workweek to support business and client operations, including regular weekend and off-hours coverage. The role will generally work Wednesday through Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with Monday and Tuesday as scheduled days off. Wednesday through Friday will be worked in the office, while Saturday and Sunday will be worked remotely/from home. Candidates should be comfortable working this schedule and providing reliable operational support during these coverage periods.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Strong Java software development experience, preferably with Spring Boot or related Spring frameworks
  • DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments, and release practices
  • Familiarity with repositories and build tools such as Maven, Git, GitLab, and Bitbucket
  • Experience with Angular, React, or other modern UI frameworks
  • Comfortable working in a Linux command-line environment
  • Scripting experience with Python, shell scripting, or similar automation languages
  • Cloud experience with AWS services, containers, RDS, SNS/SQS, CloudFormation, and Terraform
  • Commitment to automated testing, code quality, maintainability, and secure development practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Optional:

  • Experience with web servers such as JBoss, WildFly, or Tomcat
  • Understanding of proxies such as Apache HTTP Server or NGINX
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts
  • Experience supporting production systems, observability, incident troubleshooting, or operational readiness
