Original job description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Eqlipse Trading team. In this role, you'll work on production trading systems used by major financial institutions across North, Central, and South America, helping customers succeed while building and enhancing the technology that powers their trading operations.

You’ll partner closely with customers, developers, and product teams to troubleshoot complex issues, deliver software improvements, and gain deep expertise in electronic trading, order management, and financial markets. If you enjoy solving problems, collaborating with clients, and leveraging the latest AI-powered development tools to deliver high-quality solutions, we’d love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Support Eqlipse Trading customers by investigating issues, providing technical guidance, and delivering high-quality solutions.

Develop, test, and maintain Java-based trading applications while leveraging AI-powered development tools and agentic workflows to improve productivity and code quality.

Analyze production environments, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with global teams to resolve complex technical challenges.

Work with trading protocols, market data, and order management workflows while building expertise in electronic trading systems.

Partner with customers and internal stakeholders across multiple regions to support service releases, integrations, onboarding activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of software development experience with strong Java programming skills and working knowledge of Python and SQL.

Experience troubleshooting technical issues and solving problems in complex application environments.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Interest in financial technology, electronic trading systems, and working directly with customers in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Opencode, or Kiro.

Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, FIX protocol, order management systems, or capital markets technology.

Experience supporting customers, working with distributed systems, messaging middleware, or high-performance applications.

Why Join Us?

Work on real-time trading technology used by major financial institutions.

Learn from experienced developers through structured mentorship and hands-on problem solving.

Gain exposure to electronic trading, market connectivity, and financial market infrastructure.

Build expertise with modern AI development tools and agentic workflows.

Enjoy a collaborative, global environment with opportunities to grow toward senior technical, architecture, or customer-facing leadership paths.

This position will be located in Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

Work Environment & Schedule

Timezone Coverage: AMER business hours (EST/PST), with some flexibility for customer trading hours
On-Call Rotation: Occasional participation in after-hours on-call support (with team backup and mentorship)
Customer Interaction: Regular, direct engagement with customer technical teams via calls, video conferences, and ticketing systems
Collaboration: Close coordination with experienced developers in CAN, EMEA, and APAC regions
Mentorship: Structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship from senior team members
