WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS :
The Manager, Financial Reporting, is responsible for overseeing the external financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with ASPE. This role plays a key part in consolidating financial statements, managing debt reporting, and managing the external audit process. Additional responsibilities include researching and documenting key accounting policies and other ad hoc projects related to external reporting.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with accounting standards. Communicate any changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary adjustments in financial processes.
- Financial Statement Consolidation & Debt Reporting: Preparation and consolidation of financial statements, ensuring accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with ASPE.
- Audit Coordination: Support the financial audit processes by gathering necessary documentation and providing insights into the production of consolidated financial statements
- Standardization of Reporting: Ensure consistency in financial reporting standards across broker partners, addressing any discrepancies or misalignments to maintain unified reporting practices.
- Strategic Finance Support: Support broader finance functions by assisting with strategic priorities, contributing to departmental projects, and offering financial insights as needed to support business goals. This will include supporting and mentoring our new Navacord Broker Partners to get their finance team up to speed with processes and procedures.
- Automation and Efficiencies: Leverage new and existing tools to increase the level of automation in the consolidation and financial statement preparation processes in order to improve efficiencies and internal controls.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation.
- 4-6 years of experience in external financial reporting or auditing.
- Experience with GAAP or IFRS accounting standards and financial statement preparation.
- Familiarity with financial consolidation processes.
- Previous experience working with external auditors and coordinating audits.
- Strong Excel skills (advanced functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS
- Familiarity with financial consolidation software and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Ability to manage and resolve accounting issues, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reports.
- Detail-orientated with excellent problem-solving skills to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for process improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple financial reporting responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Adaptable and flexible in response to evolving business needs and financial priorities.
