Original job description
Company Description:
Nest Designs & Petite Revery specialize in high-quality, sustainable baby and kids’ clothing and sleepwear made from organic cotton and bamboo. Based in Richmond, BC, our brands are committed to creating premium, eco-friendly products that families love.
We are looking for a Director of Marketing. This position is responsible for owning the company’s global marketing strategy and performance across all brands, channels, and markets. This role is accountable for driving profitable growth, strengthening brand equity, and building a scalable marketing organization that supports ecommerce, wholesale, retail, and international expansion.
This role represents a step up from Marketing Manager, shifting from hands-on campaign execution to strategic leadership, performance accountability, and team development, while remaining closely connected to results.
This is an 18-month temporary full-time position providing maternity leave coverage. Employment beyond the contract term may be considered based on business needs, organizational priorities, and individual performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy & Business Impact
- Own and evolve the end-to-end marketing strategy across ecommerce, wholesale, retail, and emerging markets (US, Canada, APAC, Australia/NZ, EU etc. as applicable).
- Translate company-level goals and OKRs into clear marketing priorities, roadmaps, and success metrics.
- Balance brand-building and performance marketing to drive both short-term revenue and long-term brand equity.
- Act as the primary marketing partner to executive leadership, providing clear recommendations, trade-offs, and insights.
Revenue & Performance Ownership
- Own marketing’s contribution to revenue, margin, customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
- Set and manage performance targets across paid media, lifecycle marketing, affiliates, influencers, and organic channels.
- Monitor blended efficiency metrics (MER, CAC, ROAS) and continuously reallocate spend to maximize return.
- Identify risks and underperformance early and implement corrective actions.
Brand, Positioning & Storytelling
- Own brand positioning, messaging frameworks, and seasonal narratives across all customer touchpoints.
- Ensure consistent, compelling storytelling across paid media, email/SMS, social, website, PR, and retail.
- Lead major brand moments, campaigns, and collaborations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Protect and evolve brand standards as the business scales into new markets and channels.
Team Leadership & Org Design
- Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team, including setting clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and growth paths within the marketing organization.
- Coach team members to move from task execution to outcome ownership.
- Identify resourcing gaps and make hiring or agency recommendations as needed.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Ecommerce, Merchandising, Creative, Retail, and Operations to ensure marketing plans are commercially aligned and operationally feasible.
- Align marketing calendars with product drops, inventory levels, and promotional strategies.
- Act as a key voice in cross-functional planning, ensuring marketing is proactive rather than reactive.
Budget Ownership & Forecasting
- Own the annual marketing budget and spend allocation across channels and initiatives.
- Forecast performance and return on marketing investment, adjusting plans as conditions change.
- Ensure disciplined testing, learning, and documentation of results to inform future planning.
Data, Reporting & Insight
- Establish clear marketing reporting cadences for leadership, focused on insights, not just activity.
- Use data to inform strategy, prioritize initiatives, and evaluate success.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture, ensuring learnings are captured and applied.
Key Performance Indicators:
The Director of Marketing is accountable for outcomes, not just activity. Core KPIs include:
- Blended Marketing Efficiency (MER / CAC)
- Marketing-attributed revenue and contribution margin
- New customer growth and quality
- Retention, repeat purchase rate, and LTV growth

- Strong commercial and analytical mindset with the ability to connect marketing activity to business outcomes.
- Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, scaling environment with imperfect information.
- Ecommerce and multi-channel experience strongly preferred.
Key Competencies:
- Organization & Project Management: Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, vendors, and agencies.

- Problem Solving: Proactive in identifying challenges, proposing practical solutions, and driving issues through to resolution.
- Accountability & Ownership: Takes ownership of projects and responsibilities, follows through on commitments, and consistently delivers results with minimal supervision.
- Time Management: Effectively prioritizes competing demands, manages workload independently, and ensures projects are completed on schedule.
