Role Description The Onsite Field Technician is a full-time hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with a mix of onsite client visits and work-from-home activities as needed. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support at client locations, including troubleshooting workstations, servers, networks, and peripheral devices, and resolving hardware and software issues in a timely manner. You will assist with the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure such as switches, firewalls, access points, and VoIP systems, as well as support cloud and Microsoft 365 environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to service tickets, performing root-cause analysis, documenting work performed, and communicating clearly with clients and the internal helpdesk team. You will also participate in scheduled maintenance, installations, and upgrades while following security and compliance best practices aligned with the company’s SOC 2 standards.
Qualifications
- Strong technical support skills in Windows desktop and server environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of operating systems and common business applications.
- Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals, such as TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi access points, and basic routing concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud and productivity platforms, including Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and remote access tools.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware issues for PCs, laptops, printers, and related peripherals, including component replacement and setup.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, backups, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.
- Proven ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple service requests.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular onsite client visits in the Greater Toronto Area.
