Warehouse Handler

Position Overview:

The Warehouse Handler position is responsible for executing general warehouse tasks, including:

• Receiving (unloading semi-trucks with forklift, completing receiving documentation),
• shipping (picking and preparing material),
• packaging (preparing pallets, strapping, marking material),
• loading semi-trucks with forklift (dry van and flat deck),
• proper handling and storage of materials/products,
• adhering to proper inventory controls & company policies,
• cleaning/organization warehouse and compound, and other general duties as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience and material handling (packaging, storing, loading),
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, in a high-pace environment, with accuracy,
• Basic computer experience (Microsoft Word & Excel, data entry, email),
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal),
• Valid Driver’s License. Experience driving a five (5) ton truck is an asset,
• Min. grade 12 education or equivalent,
• Experience with both metric and imperial units of measure. (Ex: footage, inches, pounds),
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,
• Experience with other equipment: chop saws, automatic saws, power tools,
• Experience with metal (types and shapes) is preferred,
• Min. required competencies: accountability, resourcefulness, punctuality, & detail oriented.

Essential Job Functions:

• Unloads material from carriers, cross-checks against purchase orders for accuracy, inspects for damages, and documents receipt or escalates issues.
• Moves material to and from inventory locations to the shipping and receiving area to.
• Selecting the right material from the marked locations.
• Prepares, processes (cut-to-length as required), and routes material for shipment.
• Prepares/completes packing lists & Bills of Lading on a timely and accurate basis.
• Loads and unloads materials in accordance with standard operating policies & procedures.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures.
• Strong work ethic and dedication to team and individual performance.

Physical Demands:

• Constant walking, bending, and standing throughout the day.
• Repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves.
• Regular requirement to lift 50-80 pounds and occasional lifting of 80+ pounds.
• Occasional climbing of ladders and use of other equipment.
