Red Chris is an open-pit copper-gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close-knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. Your impact
You will drive the successful delivery of sustaining capital projects by ensuring strong coordination and project controls across field execution, schedule, cost, risk, contracts, and quality. Your work enables predictable execution, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making across project teams.
As part of our team you will
- Prepare three-week and three-month look-aheads and review weekly plans, work packages, and designs.
- Prepare resource-loaded schedules and estimates, and monitor weekly cost and production trends against forecast to identify variances and support timely corrective action.
- Prepare scopes of work and RFP evaluation criteria for assigned contracts.
- Compile project reports and present schedule, productivity, cost, and resource metrics.
- Coordinate RFIs, field issues, crew lineups, and execution priorities with project and field teams.
- Identify schedule, cost, and resource risks and coordinate corrective actions.
- Coordinate contractor onboarding and support contract, LEM, accrual, invoice, and procurement tracking.
- Maintain project records, action logs, decisions, and change documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and effective project delivery.
- Mentor and support Project Coordinators in their day-to-day work and professional growth.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Experience in project controls, construction coordination, or capital project delivery environments.
- Strong working knowledge of planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and risk management.
- Ability to interpret scopes of work, contracts, design documents, and project change requirements.
- Proficiency with project management and reporting tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Projects
- Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in an operational or construction setting.
Your work environment
- Site-based role supporting sustaining capital and TIA construction work at Red Chris.
- Regular collaboration with field supervision, Project Coordinators, Project Controls, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Safety, Environment, Quality, contractors, and operational teams.
- Work in a remote, operational environment with changing priorities and active construction interfaces.
- May require field presence, travel, and extended hours during critical execution periods.
The expected salary range for this role is CA$105,800 to 141,100. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
