Original job description

Workplace Type: Onsite

Newmont produces metals the world needs - safely, responsibly and with care for people, communities and the environment. With a 100+ year history, we continue to shape the future of mining through innovation and strong operational performance. By joining our inclusive, world-class team, you can help shape the future of mining and make a meaningful difference.

Red Chris is an open-pit copper-gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close-knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. Working at Red Chris offers an adventurous career at the frontier of mining innovation, with the opportunity to shape a major expansion while enjoying the natural beauty of northern Canada. Our team values strong partnerships with local First Nations and is committed to operating in a safe, inclusive and environmentally responsible way.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

Lead electrical and instrumentation safety, governance, and compliance programs, with a strong focus on fatality risk management and continuous improvement.
Own and maintain the Electrical Safety Management Plan and related engineering safety frameworks.
Ensure E&I systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies that improve asset integrity, reliability, and equipment performance.
Monitor asset performance, analyze operational data and trends, and implement solutions to reduce risks and downtime.
Lead audits, inspections, investigations, and assurance activities to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
Manage budgets, resources, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, cost-effective, and value-adding outcomes.
Coach, develop, and lead a diverse technical team while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role

Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline recognized by a relevant professional engineering body.
Significant experience leading electrical and instrumentation maintenance, asset management, or operational teams within mining, processing, or heavy industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety legislation, statutory compliance requirements, electrical governance, and high, medium, and low-voltage systems.
Demonstrated expertise in asset integrity, reliability improvement, risk management, and maintenance strategy development.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead teams, manage operational risks, and resolve complex technical issues.
Experience using asset management systems, maintenance planning tools, KPIs, and data-driven performance improvement processes

Your Work Environment

Leadership role within the Asset Management function, supporting site operations and maintenance performance.
Regular collaboration with Operational Managers, Maintenance and Engineering Leaders, HS&E, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Senior Site Leadership.
Frequent engagement with contractors, OEMs, business partners, and government and regulatory agencies.
Responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical and instrumentation systems that support operational performance across the site.

At Newmont, our people are our strength and we're committed to a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace. If you're passionate about doing work that matters, join Newmont and help shape the future of mining.
