Original job description

Located in the heart of the Niagara Region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.

Applications are invited for the position of Temporary Part-Time Administrative Assistant Position in the School of Trades, located at the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $30.43/hr (Pay Band E - $30.43/hr to $35.11/hr) for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Reporting to the Associate Dean School of Trades, the successful candidate provides administrative support as required to ensure smooth daily operations of apprenticeship programs and projects in addition to support for the School of Trades.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean School of Trades by making recommendations and resolving routine inquiries and concerns from students, faculty, administrative staff, and the public.
Provide secretarial support by organizing, maintaining, and updating files within the college’s computer systems.
Coordinate the collection of timesheets for all part-time staff and maintain records for part-time payroll processing.
Compile and generate absence reports, part-time payroll reports, and overtime reports.
Assist with employee orientation by instructing faculty and support staff on the use of college equipment, software, printer functions, reporting structures, and phone and email systems.

Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) year Diploma in Office Administration or Business Administration Diploma
Minimum three (3) years of practical office experience in an educational, government or large business environment
Must be available to work weekends and evenings as required
