Located in the heart of the Niagara Region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.

Applications are invited for the temporary position of part-time Research Operations Assistant in the Research and Innovation Division. The starting salary is $25.94/hour for up to 24 hours per week. Additional hours may be required at peak times during the year such as start or end of term. The position is located at the Welland Campus. This is a temporary replacement position and is set to commence in October 2026 and conclude in April 2027. It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations and Compliance, the successful candidate will provide clerical, administrative and compliance support to the to the Research and Innovation Division and its Innovation Centres.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Completes data entry for divisional budgets in accordance with the requirements of Niagara College and external funders
Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of processes relating to financial management
Tracks and executes invoicing for the division including invoices for industry partner grant contributions/matching funds and technical service client invoices
Tracks, coordinates, prepares, and submits all documentation required as it relates to accounts payable/receivable
Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of R&I processes relating to compliance requirements
Supports training activities for Research and Innovation divisional staff on institutional & funding compliance regulations and requirements
Oversees daily research data management strategy as per funder compliance requirements
Assists with enhancing communication channels to ensure Research Data Management specific communications are reaching the appropriate individuals
Assists with the development of Data Management Plan (DMP) tools and guidelines
Oversees daily research security strategy as per funder compliance requirements
Manages divisional inventory management

Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) year diploma in any field of study
Minimum three (3) years experience with records management, funder reporting, and research administration
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft SharePoint
Familiarity with the College’s research policies is considered an asset
Knowledge of the Tri-Council regulations and guidelines, and knowledge of external grant management principles is considered an asset
Experience with business operations, processes and computer systems is considered an asset
