The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of:
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT: CLASSROOM ASSISTANT/PHYSICAL CARE
St. Joseph-Scollard Hall
1.0 FTE Temporary
Effective Immediately, until approx. December 14, 2026, but not to extend beyond June 30, 2027
Mandatory Requirements
- Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
- Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
- Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
- Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
- Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet)
- Excellent interpersonal skills; and
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
- French language skills would be considered an asset
- First Aid training
Current compensation, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Responsibilities
Support students in the classroom and assist with physical care, including students with multiple needs such as autism, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges. Work collaboratively with the school team and use behavior modification, augmentative communication, and digital learning tools to support students.
Requirements
A two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field and experience supporting students with multiple needs are required; direct experience with children with behavioral exceptionalities is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork, behavior modification knowledge, augmentative communication knowledge, digital tool experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills; crisis intervention training, French language skills, and First Aid are assets.
