Role: Android Developer (Infotainment)

Location: Ottawa, ON

Hire Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • As infotainment IVI developer, responsible to refactor the existing product and improve the performance of the software
  • Analyse and triage and fix the issues reported by validation team
  • Responsible to interact with team spread across multiple geography and get faster on time solution to the problems reported
  • Good understanding of Android architecture and Android HAL Layer, preferably Android-O or later
  • Understanding of Automotive SoC architecture(application processor and Vehicle processor)
  • Experience in Android code base - Application layer (Java), JNI, Native frameworks(C )
  • Good understanding of Android programming environment using Binders, Shared memory, IPC mechanisms, etc.
  • Good knowledge in Android Services/Framework layer and its debugging
  • Programming experience preferably in Kotlin, C and C++
  • Expertise in Vehicle Interface & knowledge on Infotainment systems
  • Debugging skills to troubleshoot problems in any layer of Android
  • Application development for Android Infotainment systems covering following areas - Navigation, Connectivity (WiFi, BT), Projection (Android Auto, Carplay)
  • Tools: GIT & Gerrit, JIRA, Android source build system, Android debugging tools

Responsibilities

Refactor and improve the performance of existing Android infotainment software, and analyze, triage, and fix issues reported by the validation team. Coordinate with geographically distributed teams to deliver timely solutions and troubleshoot Android infotainment features across navigation, connectivity, and projection.

Requirements

The role requires strong knowledge of Android architecture, the HAL and services/framework layers, Android programming environments, and automotive SoC architecture. Experience with Android application and native code, preferably using Kotlin, C, and C++, as well as debugging infotainment features such as navigation, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and CarPlay, is expected.
