Original job description

About noissue:

noissue is a growing, globally distributed business and the operational complexity that comes with it is real. This role exists to help keep the people and accounts payable side of our business running smoothly.

You’ll sit within the Finance team and work closely with the North American Controller and Payroll Manager, ensuring that payroll is coordinated accurately, employee records are airtight, suppliers and partners are paid accurately, on time and in line with our obligations every time.

You’ll work across Xero and Remote, our account tool and third-party global payroll platform, coordinating inputs and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. This is a role for someone who is detail-oriented, process-driven, and thrives in an environment where accuracy and organisation are non-negotiable.

Why this Role Exists:

As we scale across markets, we need someone who can:

  • Keep payroll, leave, and benefits coordinated accurately and on time across all markets
  • Make sure our suppliers and partners are paid accurately and on time
  • Ensure records are complete, compliant, and housed in one place
  • Track expenses and subscriptions with consistency and rigour
  • Take operational pressure off the North American Controller and Payroll Manager

What You’ll Do

1. Payroll

  • Process full cycle semi-monthly payroll for our Canada and US entities using our payroll systems (Remote).
  • Gather and validate pay inputs for each cycle: new hires, terminations, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and leave.
  • Monitor and respond to queries relating to payroll and benefits.
  • Provide backup coverage for our monthly international payroll (UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Philippines).
  • Process monthly, quarterly and year end reporting relating to payroll for assigned entities.
  • Partner with various departments regarding onboarding, offboarding, and changes that affect payroll.
  • Maintain payroll documentation that supports internal reviews and external audits.
  • Maintain all employee files - contracts, start dates, amendments, and supporting documentation
  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager on streamlining payroll and HR processes.

2. Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices from start to finish in Xero: check them against purchase orders and receipts, code them to the right GL accounts and cost centres, and get them approved on time.
  • Prepare and run the regular payment runs (EFT, wire and credit card) for both domestic and international suppliers, including payments in foreign currencies.
  • Keep supplier records accurate and up to date, including new supplier setup, banking details and tax information.
  • Be the first point of contact for supplier questions about payment status, missing invoices and statements.
  • Reconcile supplier statements to the AP subledger and follow up on any differences.
  • Process employee expense claims and company credit card transactions, and make sure receipts and approvals match policy.
  • Help with month-end close by preparing AP accruals and prepaids, reviewing the aged payables report and reconciling AP to the general ledger.
  • Keep documentation organized so it's ready for audit, and help improve AP processes and internal controls as we grow.

Who You Are

  • You communicate clearly and can manage queries from employees, managers, suppliers and internal teams with professionalism.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, scaling business where process and accuracy are critical
  • You are adaptable and comfortable in a continuously evolving environment
  • You have a strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality for employee, payroll and financial information.
  • You have strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills - vlookups, pivot tables etc.
  • You have experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping or a similar finance role - a working knowledge of the full AP cycle and basic accounting principles (debits and credits, accruals).
  • You have 1-2 years of experience in full cycle Canadian payroll. Experience with international payroll is an asset but not required. Working towards your payroll designation (PCP) or completed with the National Payroll Institute.
  • Enrolled in or working toward an accounting diploma, degree or designation (CPA, or a bookkeeping certificate). This is an asset, not a requirement.

Why You’re the Right Fit

  • You have experience working with Xero or other cloud accounting tools and third-party payroll platforms like Remote
  • You’re comfortable working within a finance team and coordinating with various managers
  • You’re based in Vancouver and comfortable working across a globally distributed team with payroll running through an external platform
  • You’re equally comfortable managing recurring processes and jumping on one-off admin tasks as they arise

Pay & Compensation Package

  • Annual base salary of $53,000k - $63,000k
  • Three weeks of paid annual leave
  • Extended health insurance
  • Company-provided laptop
