Original job description

English section of this bilingual listing.

Our client, the digital division of an industrial group, is building an industrial execution software platform for the high-value metals processing sector. As the platform moves into an industrialization phase, they are looking for a Senior Functional Analyst to strengthen their analysis team.

The role

You will contribute directly to the functional design of the platform by taking on complex functional analyses. You will understand business needs, challenge them, model processes and business rules, and produce precise, complete specifications that development and test teams can use as they are.

This is first and foremost a hands-on production role within the Functional Analysis team. It carries no hierarchical authority, but you will have real influence through the quality of your deliverables and reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze needs from users, subject-matter experts and stakeholders
  • Analyze complex industrial processes (planning, production execution, materials, equipment, inventory, quality, logistics, traceability)
  • Write functional specifications covering nominal cases, variants, exceptions, business rules, states, transitions and acceptance criteria
  • Produce process models, conceptual data models, user stories and use cases
  • Maintain traceability between business needs, rules, features and acceptance criteria
  • Write and run functional test scenarios, qualify defects and work with developers through to resolution
  • Take part in peer reviews and architecture reviews, and contribute to reusable functional repositories and best practices
  • Coach and support the analysts on the team

Requirements

Profil recherché

  • University degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, industrial engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in functional analysis / business analysis, including significant experience in functional architecture or as a functional lead
  • Experience in a software platform or product context, or in multi-client projects (ERP, industrial SaaS or equivalent)
  • Strong command of process modeling (BPMN or equivalent), use cases, user stories, business rules and conceptual data modeling
  • Proven ability to use LLMs for process modeling, specification writing, use cases and user stories
  • A profile that has stayed hands-on: you still write detailed analyses yourself
  • Rigor, systems thinking, sound judgment in trade-offs and a taste for coaching
  • Advanced professional English, written and spoken (essential): deliverables and meetings with international teams are in English
  • Availability early in the day for overlap hours with international teams

Nice to have

  • Conversational French (the Montréal team works in French)
  • Experience with MES / MOM solutions
  • Background in manufacturing, continuous production or complex industrial processes (metals, aluminum, etc.)

Benefits

Conditions

  • Must live in the Greater Montréal area and hold a valid Canadian work authorization (no sponsorship offered)
  • Possibility of direct hire down the road
