We Are a Hard-Tech Company
Norcada is a photonics, MEMS, and nanotechnology solutions company located in Edmonton, Canada. Since our founding in 2002, we have developed a broad customer base in academia and industry and have sales and product development collaborations worldwide. Our product solutions enable work in environmental sensing, microscopy and microanalysis, proteomics and genomics, and building the next generation of quantum devices. They’re currently used in all seven continents and even in space!
The Position
Norcada makes cutting-edge scientific products and instruments, and we need people with a scientific or technical background and a passion for the field to work directly with our customers. Our technical sales team helps turn customers’ challenging or groundbreaking ideas into reality. We are hiring up to three Technical Solutions Leads, each focused on one of these areas: photonics systems and optical packaging; operando microanalysis; and customized device and assembly solutions.*
This isn’t your traditional sales role; we don’t cold-call or spend all day on the phone. Our team spends its time talking with customers to understand their requirements and liaising with our product teams to design and create optimal solutions. These solutions come in many forms (holders, laser systems, quantum devices, MEMS chips, and more), and many of our projects focus on tailored, one-of-a-kind solutions that push the boundaries of science.
We’re approaching our 25th year in business, and many of our customers come back to collaborate on their next project. Most of our proactive outreach happens at conferences around the world, along with the great work of our marketing team!
Our next Technical Solutions Lead will handle customer inquiries, work with customers to configure technical solutions and product options, develop quotations and proposals, support marketing activities, coordinate projects, and provide full-cycle customer support.
- In your application cover letter, let us know which area best matches your experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers across global markets as their main technical point of contact, through email, online channels, calls, and meetings, from first inquiry through delivery and beyond.
- Scope new projects by digging into each customer’s requirements, then work with our technical teams to assess feasibility, weigh design options and trade-offs, and design, build, and engineer precise custom solutions.
- Prepare technical proposals and quotations for bespoke product solutions, covering specifications, components, pricing, and lead times.
- Build and manage bespoke, technically challenging projects end to end, coordinating the people involved and keeping the customer, engineering, and production teams aligned on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support client management and long-term relationships, including coordinating fulfilment and after-sales support.
- Use our CRM to manage customer information and track leads.
- Support international conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, and webinars, along with other marketing activities.
- Uphold our world-renowned standard of delivery excellence, with the professionalism and confidentiality expected in a high-tech company.
