Ready to take your career to the next level? Join our team in Duncan, BC and thrive as a Junior/Intermediate Estimator (Foundations & Shoring)!

Norland Limited consists of multiple specialized businesses working together as one team towards common goals. We have the unique ability to deliver complex, multi-faceted public and private sector projects within a single contract. Our businesses have delivered work Built to Last for over 80 years!

CDI provides high-quality, on-time deep foundation solutions. Specializing in drilled shafts, shoring walls, cofferdams, and more, CDI is committed to being one of the safest and most efficient specialty drilling contractors in North America. Our custom capabilities enable us to tackle the most challenging projects with precision and innovation.

Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, the Estimator (Foundations & Shoring) will work on a wide range of complex project estimates, provide proposals, and work on all aspects of construction from start to finish. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a Civil/Geotechnical Technologist (C.Tech / AScT), Field Technician, or Junior Estimator with a strong geotechnical background who wants to develop into a dedicated Estimator with a premier specialty drilling contractor. You’ll play a key role in driving successful bids, guiding strategy, and supporting the delivery of complex deep foundations, land piling, marine, and heavy civil projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of competitive estimates and proposals across a diverse portfolio of deep foundations, piling, marine, and heavy civil projects.
Manage the full tendering process independently, from bid invitation through final submission, while collaborating closely with the Pre-Construction Manager.
Analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents to develop accurate project cost estimates and execution strategies.
Identify project risks and opportunities related to safety, environmental requirements, constructability, schedule, procurement, operations, and commercial performance.
Develop innovative pricing and bid strategies that position the company for successful project awards.
Prepare clear, professional proposals that communicate value, technical solutions, and project understanding to clients.
Collaborate with operations, project management, and field teams to validate assumptions, production rates, methodologies, and project execution plans.
Participate in internal bid reviews and provide recommendations that support sound business decisions.
Support major project pursuits, including Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and joint venture opportunities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
Partner with business development and leadership teams to identify new opportunities and support long-term client growth.
Provide estimating support throughout project execution, including change management, extra work pricing, and cost analysis.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance estimating processes, systems, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical/Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent technical background.
Preferably 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in construction estimating, civil contracting, and/or geotechnical consulting/field testing.
Registration or eligibility for C.Tech or AScT (ASTTBC), or EIT (EGBC) is highly regarded.
Experience with pile driving, foundation drilling, CIP piles, cofferdams, shoring walls, tie backs, slope stabilization, or marine construction is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of estimating principles, project execution planning, and risk management.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents.
Proven ability to manage multiple pursuits in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Experience with HeavyBid, B2W, MS Project, or similar estimating software is an asset.
Valid BC Driver's License
