Original job description

What it’s like to be a Northbridge Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Specialist

As a Northbridge DEI Specialist, you'll play a meaningful role in helping us build a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. You'll partner with leaders, employees, and teams across the organization to develop and deliver engaging diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI) programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen our culture and foster a sense of belonging.

In this role, you'll help bring our DEI strategy to life through employee engagement activities, awareness campaigns, learning opportunities, and partnerships with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to create meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, and dialogue, while supporting inclusive workplace practices and helping ensure our initiatives reflect evolving DEI best practices.

Your work will contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued and employees feel connected to Northbridge's culture and community.

We want your talent!

If you are great at:

Building trusted relationships and collaborating with people across all levels of an organization
Influencing and inspiring others to embrace inclusive practices and positive cultural change
Planning, coordinating, and delivering engaging employee events, programs, and experiences
Partnering with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and supporting employee-led initiatives
Managing multiple initiatives while balancing both strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Communicating clearly through presentations, facilitation, and written communication

You have:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience; studies in HR, Organizational Development, DEI, or a related field
3+ years experience in a DEI focused role
Experience developing, implementing, or supporting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs, awareness campaigns, or enterprise-wide initiatives
Experience partnering with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), employee committees, or other stakeholder groups
Experience leading projects and driving initiatives from planning through implementation, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
Knowledge of DEI best practices, trends, legislation, and accessibility requirements, including AODA
Experience facilitating discussions, workshops, presentations, or employee learning experiences are considered an asset

We really mean it when we say we put you first. Here are a few ways how:

Hybrid work! We have a flexible hybrid model that allows you to work from home up to 2 days per week, with added flexibility for when you really need it.
Competitive compensation with a strong base salary aligned to market expectations.
We support your well‑being with a flexible, balanced work environment that helps you prioritize what matters most.
We are invested in helping you grow in your career through access to a wide range of internal and external professional development resources, along with opportunities to build new skills and expand your expertise.
NBFC cares about the community and supports the causes you believe in with donation matching and team volunteer days.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this position is $80,000 – $110,000, which reflects the expected base pay for the position. The actual base salary offered may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the role. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don't let that hold you back.

This is a real opportunity - we’re actively hiring. If the role sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you.

We also want to be transparent about our hiring process. While one of our systems includes AI capabilities, over 99% of our screening is done by real people. We believe in thoughtful, human‑centered hiring decisions and are committed to giving every application the attention it deserves.

Who we are:

We’re Northbridge Financial. We’re proud to be 100% Canadian and owned by Fairfax Financial. We serve through our Northbridge Insurance and Federated Insurance brands.
