Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse performs assessments, plans and provides nursing care to elderly clients in a long-term care setting. They also provide direction to other staff while adhering to organizational policies and BCCNM standards.

Original job description

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Clinical Supervisor or designate, the Licensed Practical Nurse applies Nursing Process, performs assessments, plans, provides nursing care, and may provide direction to other staff.

The LPN operates in accordance with the expected competencies within the Entry to Practice Competencies, Scope of Practice and Standards of Practice as outlined by BCCNM, as well as within a client and family centered care model and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.

The LPN will support clients and families to achieve and maintain optimal health by performing the following duties and responsibilities.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 06:45 to 18:45, 18:45 to 06:45 (rotating)

16 Week Rotation consists of 17 Days (06:45-18:45) and 17 Nights (18:45-06:45) with 7 weekends off.
