What You’ll Do

As a Digital & Social Media Specialist, you will be responsible for executing Northland Power’s digital communications strategy and strengthening the company’s presence across global markets. Working closely with the Corporate Affairs leadership team, you will own execution and the day-to-day management of Northland’s corporate website and social media channels, including developing engaging content, executing digital campaigns, managing online communities and using analytics to continuously optimize performance.

Reporting to Manager of Communications & Workplace Services, this is a hands-on, execution-focused role for a digital communications professional who can translate strategy into action. The successful candidate will work closely with teams across the business to identify opportunities, tell Northland’s story, amplify key milestones and enhance engagement with priority audiences.

This role is based at our Toronto headquarters and requires employees to work from the office a minimum of four days per week in accordance with Northland's hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

Own the day-to-day management of Northland Power’s corporate website, ensuring content is current, accurate, accessible and aligned with business priorities, brand standards and SEO best practices.
Manage and execute Northland’s global social media strategy across priority channels, driving audience growth, engagement and brand awareness.
Develop and maintain an integrated digital content calendar that supports corporate priorities, campaigns, project milestones, executive thought leadership and key business initiatives.
Support the development and delivery of digital campaigns that enhance Northland’s reputation, employer brand and stakeholder engagement.
Create, write, edit and publish compelling digital content across Northland’s website and social media channels, including written content, graphics, videos and other multimedia assets.
Lead community management across social media channels by monitoring conversations, engaging with audiences, responding to inquiries where appropriate and escalating issues when required.
Plan, execute and optimize paid social media, paid search and digital advertising campaigns to support corporate objectives and maximize campaign performance.
Monitor, analyze and report on website, social media and digital campaign performance using analytics and reporting tools, providing insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness.
Develop regular performance reporting, including channel metrics, campaign results and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Partner with Corporate Affairs and internal business teams to identify content opportunities and translate complex business priorities into compelling digital stories.
Manage relationships with external agencies, creative partners, photographers, videographers and other vendors to deliver high-quality digital content.
Stay current on emerging digital trends, platforms, tools and best practices, recommending opportunities to strengthen Northland’s digital presence.
Ensure all digital content aligns with Northland’s brand guidelines, corporate messaging and accessibility standards.

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Public Relations or a related discipline.
3–5+ years of experience managing corporate digital communications and social media channels. Demonstrated experience developing and executing digital and social media strategies for a global organization.
Advanced experience working with WordPress or similar enterprise content management systems. Experience using social media management, listening and analytics tools to monitor performance and generate insights.
Experience planning, executing and optimizing paid social media, paid search and digital advertising campaigns.
Strong understanding of SEO, website optimization and digital accessibility best practices. Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content for multiple digital platforms.
Experience developing and managing editorial and content calendars. Strong understanding of digital analytics and the ability to use data to inform content and channel strategies.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience managing external agencies, vendors or creative partners is considered an asset.
Previous experience managing digital and social media for a global company is considered an asset.
Previous experience in the energy sector or large infrastructure projects is considered an asset.
