At Nova Scotia Power, our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program plays a critical role in delivering reliable service, enhancing the customer experience, supporting grid operations, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

We are seeking an AMI Solutions Specialist to help maximize the value of our smart meter ecosystem through data analysis, technical problem solving, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will work at the intersection of technology, operations, and business, helping ensure our AMI systems and processes continue to support critical business functions while identifying opportunities for innovation and optimization.

This role combines technical problem-solving, data analysis, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement to support the ongoing evolution of Nova Scotia Power's smart grid technologies.

This role is ideal for a systems thinker who enjoys solving complex business and technical challenges, working with data to uncover insights, leading cross-functional initiatives, and driving meaningful operational improvements. Acting as a bridge between technology, operations, and business teams, you will play a key role in ensuring our AMI systems, processes, and data continue to deliver reliable business outcomes while supporting innovation across the organization.

Key elements of this role include:

As the AMI Solutions Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our AMI ecosystem while driving initiatives that improve system performance, operational efficiency, and business value. You will:

Analyze smart meter and operational data to identify trends, investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop both immediate and long-term solutions.
Lead and support investigations into complex business and technical challenges, assessing impacts, risks, and dependencies while developing practical and sustainable recommendations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex techno-functional issues affecting AMI systems, business processes, data quality, and customer outcomes.
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate solution options, support testing and validation activities, and coordinate successful implementation of system and process enhancements.
Develop and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen data integrity, improve system performance, and enhance team effectiveness.
Serve as a subject matter expert on AMI systems and processes, providing guidance and recommendations related to system functionality, data quality, and operational performance.
Collaborate closely with Customer Care, Billing Services, Meter Field Services, IT teams, vendors, and external partners to support the reliable operation of critical business functions.
Work with large data sets to support troubleshooting, analysis, and decision‑making.
Develop reporting, dashboards, and performance insights that support operational excellence and informed decision-making.
Monitor system performance, identify opportunities for optimization, and champion continuous improvement initiatives across the AMI ecosystem.
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and smart grid innovations to help identify new opportunities to create value for the business.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in many of the following qualifications and competencies:

Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Technology Management, or a related technical discipline.
Around 3 years of experience in a technical solutions, systems analysis, business analysis, project delivery, operations improvement, continuous improvement, or data analytics role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience working with large and complex datasets and using SQL or similar tools to investigate issues and support decision-making.
Experience gathering business requirements, documenting processes, supporting testing activities, implementing technology solutions, and driving change initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to investigate complex business or technical problems, perform root cause analysis, assess risks, and develop practical recommendations.
Experience leading or supporting cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and evolving business requirements.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Curiosity, adaptability, critical thinking, and a passion for solving complex problems and driving continuous improvement.
Experience with utility operations, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Oracle Meter Data Management, Itron technologies, smart grid systems, Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools is considered an asset.
