The Opportunity

Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI)
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Type of Employment: Temporary, Full-Time (Winter 2027 Co-op Term: January - April 2027)
Closing Date: October 12, 2026

Are you interested in major infrastructure projects, clean energy transformation, and developing your engineering and project management skills in a collaborative environment?

As an Engineering (ECEI) Co-op, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI) Project Controls Team as they help deliver critical clean energy infrastructure projects across Nova Scotia.

Working with our team during the Winter 2027 Co-op Term, you'll contribute to the planning, monitoring, coordination, and delivery of major capital projects while collaborating with project managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and project controls professionals. You'll support project reporting, data analysis, document management, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the successful execution of clean energy projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy a mix of engineering, project controls, data analysis, and project coordination. You'll contribute to meaningful projects, gain exposure to large-scale infrastructure development, and build technical, analytical, communication, and project management skills.

What you’ll do:

Support the Information Management Lead in implementing information management methodologies, templates, and tools across the ECEI Intertie Project – Wasoqonatl Transmission Line.
Assist in delivering business processes that support the effective management of electronic and physical project documentation.
Support compliance with Information Management Procedures among internal and external project participants.
Liaise with internal and external submitters of project documentation to facilitate document review and processing.
Generate outgoing transmittals and support documentation requirements, including RFIs, RFPs, correspondence, and quality reports.
Maintain document logs, registers, and project databases, ensuring records remain current, accurate, and complete.
Review contractor and supplier documentation for compliance with project requirements and support the administration of master document registers, supplier registers, and document distribution matrices.
Assist with the administration of Electronic Document Management Systems, including Adept, ACC Forma, and SharePoint.
Provide support for additional project-related activities as required.

Who you are:

We're looking for an organized, analytical student who enjoys working with technical information, supporting complex projects, and learning about the delivery of major infrastructure initiatives. You will be a strong candidate if you:

Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, with Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related disciplines preferred.
Are ideally in your second, third, or fourth year of study and eligible to complete a co-op work term.
Have academic or work experience related to engineering projects, project management, planning, scheduling, construction, or data analysis, which is considered an asset.
Are proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Can interpret and work with technical and project-related information.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Can work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Have experience with project management, scheduling, reporting, or data visualization tools, which is considered an asset.
Demonstrate knowledge of records management, document retention, data governance, and revision control.
Have an understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction documentation processes, including vendor data and as-built documentation processes.
Can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
Have experience using SharePoint Online (SPOL) and Adept, which is considered an asset.

What we offer:

Networking & Growth: Join a network of current and former co-op students and build connections through biweekly events such as keynote speaker series, coffee chats, volunteer opportunities, and social activities.
Comprehensive Onboarding: Start your term with confidence through our engaging onboarding program, which includes facilitated group orientation sessions, a Student Handbook, and a Technology Guide designed to set you up for success from day one.
Community Engagement & Giving Back: Get involved through mentoring opportunities, employee resource groups, volunteer programs, fundraising-matching initiatives, and various committees that support the communities where we live and work.
Meaningful Project Experience: Support major transmission, substation, and renewable energy infrastructure projects that contribute to Nova Scotia Power's clean energy transformation initiatives.
Hands-On Learning & Development: Gain practical experience in project controls, project reporting, information management, data analysis, and capital project delivery while working on real-world infrastructure projects
Mentorship & Professional Growth: Receive guidance from experienced project professionals and participate in project planning and execution activities while developing skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Cross-Functional Exposure: Collaborate with professionals across engineering, construction, project management, procurement, and operations while building an understanding of the utility industry and large-scale project delivery.
