The Opportunity

Are you passionate about visual storytelling, creative design, and bringing ideas to life through engaging communications?

As a Graphic Design Co-op, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting creative design projects and communication initiatives that help strengthen Nova Scotia Power's brand and business objectives.

Working with our team during the Winter 2027 Co-op Term, you'll contribute to a variety of digital and print design projects while collaborating with creative professionals, communications specialists, and stakeholders across the organization. You'll help create, adapt, and maintain visual assets that support marketing, internal communications, customer-facing initiatives, and corporate campaigns, while ensuring alignment with established brand standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy a mix of graphic design, visual communications, multimedia content creation, and stakeholder collaboration. You'll contribute to real projects, expand your creative and technical skills, and gain valuable experience that can help launch a career in graphic design, digital media, marketing, communications, or brand management.

What you’ll do:

Support the production of creative assets across digital and print channels, including marketing materials, internal communications, and customer-facing content.
Create and update branded materials such as social media graphics, PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, posters, and event collateral.
Resize, adapt, and format campaign materials for various platforms while ensuring compliance with established brand standards and design guidelines.
Assist with video editing activities, including trimming footage, formatting content for different channels, and incorporating revisions based on stakeholder feedback.
Collaborate with creative and communications team members to support ongoing campaigns, initiatives, and projects across the organization.
Contribute to maintaining brand consistency across all communications channels through the application of visual identity standards and approved templates.
Support the development and organization of creative assets and digital files to improve accessibility and efficiency for the team.
Participate in team meetings, creative reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Who you are:

We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented student who enjoys design, visual communications, and working collaboratively on projects. You will be a strong candidate if you:

Are currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications Design, Multimedia Design, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Have experience creating visual content for digital and print platforms through coursework, personal projects, internships, volunteer work, or previous co-op terms.
Are proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, or similar design tools.
Have experience creating digital and print-ready design materials.
Possess a basic understanding of video editing software and multimedia production techniques.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of graphic design principles, typography, layout, visual hierarchy, and color theory.
Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Communicate effectively and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders while incorporating feedback into creative deliverables.
Bring a creative mindset, willingness to learn, adaptability, and enthusiasm for contributing new ideas.
