🌎 About Us

NPX partners with nuclear utilities and new reactor projects to deliver innovative design engineering solutions that unlock performance. We combine decades of nuclear operation expertise with AI, digital tools, and lean processes, to help plants run safer, smarter, and more cost-effectively. Our Design Engineer team scales this expertise through advanced electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation & control (I&C) design practices to clients across Canada.

🧠 The Role

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions for nuclear facilities. In this role, you will lead complex design scopes, provide technical direction and oversight, and serve as a trusted engineering partner to clients.

You will apply mechanical design engineering expertise to guide projects from concept through detailed design, while mentoring junior engineers, driving continuous improvement in design processes, and championing innovation in how nuclear design engineering work is executed.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to the client site in Bruce County, as required by project needs.

Salary Range: $130-165k (Exact compensation may vary).

🎯 What You’ll Drive

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering judgment, including defining design approaches, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring alignment with safety, regulatory, and project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve mechanical engineering deliverables in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a technical interface with clients, vendors, regulators, and internal stakeholders, supporting design reviews, technical meetings, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to define and achieve the required functionality, performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability of systems and components.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, design oversight, and constructive technical feedback.
  • Work closely with QA and project teams to address design issues, support audits and reviews, and ensure overall design quality.
  • Contribute to the evolution of NPX’s design tools, standards, and processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and technical excellence.

✨ What You Bring

  • Results & Impact: you deliver measurable outcomes and business value.
  • Leadership & Influence: you elevate team performance and create influence without being asked.
  • Adaptability & Growth: you thrive in dynamic environments and embody a growth mindset.
  • Initiative & Innovation: you proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Cultural Amplification: you strengthen our culture and role model our values.

🌿 What You’ll Find Here

To do great work, you need to be well in mind, body, and soul. At NPX, we design our environment around the whole person, not just the job they do.

  • 🧠 Mind: Tools and support for mental wellness, professional growth, and financial security.
  • 🧘‍♀️ Body: Health coverage, a spending account, and the freedom to rest and recharge.
  • 🌀 Soul: Meaningful work, alignment with your values, and time to refresh with time off.
