Role Overview

We're looking for a senior RF engineer to own the technical bridge between our discrete transceiver prototypes and future ASICs. The role is centered on EM engineering and embedded RF systems, low-power RF PCB architecture, signal integrity across body-coupled channels, and multi-node protocol bring-up, with a lighter firmware footprint, focused more on direction and review than hands-on implementation.

This is a senior, high-impact system role: PHY constraints → EM/RF architecture → firmware scheduling. This person is expected to grow into a technical lead role, mentoring future RF and firmware hires as the team scales.

Key Responsibilities

EM & RF Systems Engineering (core of the role)

Design and lead implementation of discrete transceiver architectures on PCB
Design and integrate analog front-end blocks (detectors, LNAs, filters) with digital control planes
Optimize signal integrity and electromagnetic behavior across body-coupled channels (impedance, grounding strategy, coupling paths, shielding)
Own system-level architecture trade-offs: latency, power, noise, coupling
Design and lead lab validation: link budget, BER/PER, timing drift, interference robustness

Firmware (supervisory, reduced scope)

Define requirements and architecture for embedded firmware (e.g., STM32-class MCUs) for real-time control of the transceiver and interface with edge sensors (UART/SPI/I2C)
Guide and review firmware work done by other team members, stepping in directly on portions that are critical to PHY behavior

Requirements

5–8+ years of experience in hardware systems, RF, or electromagnetic engineering, including embedded systems design experience
Demonstrated expertise designing and debugging mixed-signal (analog/digital/RF) PCBs; significant RF exposure required
Strong grounding in applied electromagnetics: impedance, shielding, signal integrity, coupling paths
Solid understanding of communication protocols (FDMA, TDMA, synchronization, clocking)
Hands-on experience with MCU platforms (e.g., STM32 or equivalent ARM Cortex-M) and solid C/C++ for real-time systems (interrupts, low-power modes) - enough to direct and review other engineers' work
Familiarity with lab instrumentation (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, VNA is a plus)
Experience mentoring or technically guiding junior engineers, or a clear intent to grow into a team lead role
Strong system intuition and the ability to make architectural decisions independently
Language: English (mandatory); French strongly preferred

Il s'agit d'un rôle senior à fort impact système : contraintes PHY → architecture EM/RF → ordonnancement firmware. Cette personne est appelée à évoluer vers un rôle de lead technique, en encadrant les prochains ingénieurs RF et firmware embauchés à mesure que l'équipe grandit.

Responsabilités principales

Définir les exigences et l'architecture du firmware embarqué (ex. STM32 ou ARM Cortex-M équivalent) pour le contrôle temps réel du transceiver et l'interface avec des capteurs edge (UART/SPI/I2C)
