Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, External Reporting, the full-time position for a Senior Manager External Reporting is responsible for supervising the external financial reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and securities commissions’ requirements in both Canada and the US. This position collaborates with individuals within the team and in various departments across Nutrien’s global operations. Effective and collaborative communication with process owners is essential to ensure disclosures meet the highest standards.

What You'll Do

Prepare and review quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, related note disclosures and regulatory filing deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, securities regulations and company policies
Review supporting analyses, reconciliations and working papers prepared by business units and corporate functions to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of external reporting deliverables
Review and analyze segment results, supporting financial analyses and business unit submissions to assess reporting implications, validate key conclusions and support internal and external reporting
Coordinate the quarterly Summary of Unadjusted Differences (SUD) process, including preparation of supporting schedules, evaluation of audit differences and reporting implications, stakeholder consultation across business units, and reconciliation with external auditors
Support the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements, including IFRS 18, through the review of transition analyses, supporting working papers, disclosure requirements and related changes to reporting processes and controls
Partner with Controllers, Investor Relations, Legal, Treasury, Tax, external auditors and other stakeholders to support accurate, timely and compliant external reporting, regulatory filings and audit activities
Mentor and provide guidance to team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of external reporting processes and controls

What You'll Bring

CPA designation required
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in external reporting, financial reporting and/or auditing public companies, including management experience
Experience preparing, reviewing or auditing consolidated financial statements and public company disclosures
Strong knowledge of IFRS
Experience supporting annual and quarterly reporting processes for a public company. Exposure to SEC reporting requirements and filing processes is preferred
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven reporting environment
Demonstrated ability to review and challenge complex financial analyses, reconciliations, supporting working papers and reporting conclusions
Advanced analytical and Excel skills, including the ability to review large and complex datasets, reconciliations and supporting analyses with a high degree of accuracy
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance and with external auditors
Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing team members
