Original job description
We are a busy, full-service, 11-doctor practice in beautiful Barrie, ON. We have a great team of experienced Veterinarians who are happy to share their knowledge and collaborate. We have been an AAHA Accredited Hospital for over 25 years and are Fear Free and Feline Friendly Certified. We see a variety of breeds of dogs and cats, as well as pocket pets and the odd pig!
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Allandale Veterinary Hospital are reserved for students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.
