Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support the design, prototyping, integration, and deployment of intelligent robotic and machine-vision systems.

The role will work closely with software, electrical, robotics, and AI engineers to develop mechanical structures and assemblies for cameras, sensors, robotic systems, edge computing devices, inspection equipment, and industrial automation applications.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building real-world systems, rapidly prototyping mechanical solutions, and deploying equipment directly in manufacturing and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical components, assemblies, brackets, fixtures, frames, enclosures, and mounting systems for robotic and machine-vision applications.
Develop mechanical structures for cameras, lighting, sensors, edge computing devices, and robotic systems.
Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
Design fixtures and positioning systems for industrial visual inspection and automation applications.
Support integration of robot arms, cameras, sensors, actuators, conveyors, gantry systems, and inspection equipment.
Perform mechanical tolerance analysis, dimensional checks, load calculations, and design validation.
Select appropriate materials, fasteners, bearings, motors, linear guides, structural components, and other mechanical parts.
Develop and assemble rapid prototypes using CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and off-the-shelf industrial components.
Coordinate with manufacturing vendors and suppliers for machining, fabrication, and component procurement.
Conduct mechanical testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and design improvements.
Support installation and commissioning of robotic and inspection systems at customer manufacturing sites.
Work closely with electrical, embedded, software, VLM/AI, and robotics teams to ensure successful system integration.
Improve product designs for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, cost, size, and weight.
Maintain mechanical drawings, design documentation, revision control, and engineering records.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience with professional CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Creo, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods.
Experience designing mechanical assemblies for robotics, industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, machine vision, or similar systems.
Ability to create manufacturing-ready drawings and BOMs.
Hands-on experience assembling, testing, modifying, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
Familiarity with CNC machining, sheet metal, extrusion framing, injection molding, and 3D printing.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with industrial robots, collaborative robots, gantry systems, conveyors, or automated inspection equipment.
Experience designing camera and sensor mounting systems for machine-vision applications.
Familiarity with Basler, FLIR, Cognex, Keyence, or similar industrial vision hardware.
Experience integrating mechanical designs with electrical systems, PCBs, edge computers, and embedded devices.
Familiarity with industrial components such as linear rails, servo motors, actuators, pneumatic systems, and aluminum extrusion systems.
Understanding of DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, vibration, thermal management, and structural analysis.
Experience working directly at manufacturing or customer sites.
Familiarity with FEA or simulation tools is a plus.
