Original job description

Who We Are:

Building on more than 30 years of business expertise, we are an international wealth, banking and asset management software provider empowering clients to embrace their future challenges while providing great performance today. The Objectway Group is a future-proof technology player with a well-established track record in the financial services industry with over €120 million of consolidated revenue. The Group is a global Top 100 fintech provider (IDC ranking), whose clients include 250+ leading wealth managers, banks, asset managers, fund managers, insurers and outsourcers in more than 15 countries. With over 800 professionals operating from Italy, UK, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Canada, the Group serves clients in 4 continents, supporting approximately 100,000 investment professionals to manage more than €1 trillion in assets.

In January 2024, Nest Wealth became part of the Objectway Group, combining the strengths of two global fintech leaders to provide innovative solutions spanning the entire wealth and asset management value chain. Armed with global distribution and a robust product suite, we are looking to hire a Sr. Software Engineer (Full Stack) to help fuel the next phase of our growth.

\nThe Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate Senior Software Development Engineer (Full Stack) to help increase the value proposition of the platform to our existing clients by creating efficient project delivery. We seek a technical leader who owns both modern angular frontend architecture and scalable Node.js backend services. You will work closely with your fellow developers, QAs, product managers, and members of the platform team daily.

This is a unique hybrid product-and-client-focused engineering role. While we build and evolve our own SaaS platform, our solutions are delivered to some of the world's leading financial institutions, each with unique business, regulatory, and operational requirements. Success in this role goes beyond building great software; it requires understanding client challenges, evaluating multiple approaches, and designing the right solution. We are looking for engineers who enjoy combining technical excellence with business problem-solving, helping clients achieve their goals rather than simply implementing out-of-the-box functionality.

If you are a developer who thrives in a high-reaching environment, loves a good challenge, and won’t leave problems unsolved, this could be a great role for you! We’d love you to demonstrate your technical acumen (particularly in JavaScript), your ability to be a true team player, and demonstrate leadership & mentorship abilities throughout the interview process.

Our cross-functional pods have built a world-class platform that supports all three of our lines of business and tackles new revenue-generating problems every day. You will have the opportunity to suggest ways to improve the existing architecture and technical debt as well as provide insight to optimize the Objectway Digital Client Onboarding (ODCO) platform and make it more scalable. Our Engineers are able to see the positive impact of their work not only on the company, but on the wealth management industry as a whole.

You'll thrive in this role if:

You are ready to step into technical leadership: You want to move beyond just writing great code and take on an active role in shaping architecture and mentoring fellow developers.
You enjoy solving real-world client problems: You can balance product thinking with client needs, working closely with stakeholders to understand complex business requirements and architect solutions that deliver the best outcomes for leading financial institutions, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.
You thrive on complex challenges: You are excited by the prospect of designing, optimizing, and scaling REST APIs and microservices in a high-traffic production environment.
You want your voice to be heard: You enjoy working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced Agile environment where your ideas have a direct impact on the product and engineering culture.
You are looking for ownership: You want to work somewhere that allows you to drive initiatives forward and take true ownership of the systems you build.

The impact you’ll make:

Take ownership of your own projects while pairing with mentors
Provide suggestions on software optimization and scalability
Write maintainable, testable, and performant code
Designing and building out the ODCO platform and REST APIs using Node.js, Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Mongo, and Cloud Services
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Angular applications using modern Angular best practices.
Build reusable UI components, libraries, and shared modules to accelerate development across teams.
Drive architectural decisions
Lead technical design discussions on both front-end and back-end
Perform code reviews
Mentor junior/intermediate developers
Set and influence engineering standards
Participate in hiring and technical interviews
Optimize applications for maximum performance and scalability.
Keep up with best practices and tooling from the Typescript, Node, and Angular community
Drive collaborative problem-solving, champion continuous learning, and actively contribute to our engineering culture

What you’ll bring:

Deep expertise in modern TypeScript, including:
Advanced type systems
Generics
Functional programming concepts
Asynchronous programming patterns
Domain-driven design
Event-driven architectures
Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS or other cloud, including infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and scalability considerations.
Experience implementing state management solutions
Experience building reusable component libraries and design systems
Proven ability to champion and execute comprehensive automated testing strategies (unit, integration, API, and end-to-end).
Experience with Postgresql and MongoDB
Experience with Dependency Injection (DI) and ORMs
A real passion for learning and staying up to date with best practices
Deep expertise in enterprise-level SDLC methodologies and software automation practices.
Excellent debugging skills

How you’ll be successful in this role:

Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): you will be heavily involved.
Design & Documentation: Translating requirements into technical plans and scalable architecture
Development & Testing: Writing high-quality code utilizing TDD/BDD and robust integration testing
Delivery & Support: Managing deployments (UAT/Production) and maintaining the long-term health of the Objectway platform through continuous iteration
Be the go-to: Provide leadership and technical guidance to our SDLC process as we continue to build groundbreaking SaaS products
Optimization: This person will be providing lots of insight to improve our architecture, technical debt, and position us for success as we continue to scale our software.
Collaboration: This person will also be working with the rest of the engineering team and product teams to create a refined SDLC. They will influence engineering standards and architecture
Be a leader: This person will be given the opportunity to mentor other developers as our team continues to grow.

It would be GREAT if you had:

Experience with NestJS
Message queue systems such as Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ
Experience migrating applications between Angular versions and leading framework upgrade initiatives
Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture
Familiarity with financial and investment terminology and theories
Knowledge of accessibility standards
Previous experience working on SaaS products in highly regulated environments

$120,000 - $140,000 a year

What you can expect in the interview process:

30 min “get to know you” interview with the talent team

60 min “meet the hiring manager” interview

45 min “leadership interview” with decision makers

Accommodation Statement:

Objectway is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive, barrier-free selection processes and work environments. We will accommodate any applicant under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code. If you require accommodation during any part of the hiring process, please let us know so that we can work with you to meet your needs.

Equality Policy:

We are an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
