Original job description
Mechanical Design Engineer – Halifax, Nova Scotia | Space Technology | CAD $80,000–$110,000
Want to see the parts you design end up in space hardware? A growing space technology company in Halifax, Nova Scotia is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team.
This is a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer role for someone early to mid-career. You don’t need to hit the ground running. You need solid fundamentals and a real interest in building things.
What you’ll do as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- Develop 3D CAD design using SolidWorks.
- Support the full development lifecycle including testing, simulation, analysis.
- Design custom parts such as brackets and enclosures in aluminium / sheet metal.
- Produce clear, CNC-ready drawings that go straight to manufacture.
- Work closely with electrical, embedded and systems engineers on flight hardware
What you’ll bring
- CAD and 3D modelling experience, ideally using SolidWorks or similar.
- Tolerancing and solid mechanical design fundamentals
- Simulation of quasi-static and vibration loading
- A bonus: thermal simulation, or hands-on prototyping or workshop experience
You don’t need an aerospace background. Experience from a smaller engineering firm, a consultancy or a prototyping-heavy environment fits this role well.
What’s on offer
- CAD $80,000–$110,000, depending on experience
- Full-time, permanent Mechanical Design Engineer role in Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Fast, simple hiring: a short online screener, then one or two conversations with the CEO
