We are currently seeking a Corporate Trust Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will be based in Vancouver or Toronto.
This is a hands-on back-office role within our Corporate Trust division. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Trust, you will process and support the day-to-day transactions behind our trustee, agency and escrow appointments – from DTC and CDS settlement and corporate actions to payments, reconciliations and record keeping. As Odyssey grows its Canadian and U.S. corporate trust business, you will help build and strengthen our depository and operations processes.
You are detail-oriented, highly organized and comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven operations environment. You understand how securities move through DTC, take ownership of a transaction from start to finish, and are confident working independently and as part of a team.
Primary Responsibilities
DTC & Depository Operations:
- Process DTC transactions for the securities we act on, including deposits and withdrawals (DWAC), FAST balancing and position reconciliations.
- Set up and maintain DTC eligibility for new issues, including CUSIP coordination and Letters of Representations.
- Administer corporate actions through DTC, including tender offers, exchanges and consents via ATOP, and redemption, interest and principal notices.
- Coordinate principal and interest payments to Cede & Co. and other depository participants, and resolve breaks with DTC and participating brokers.
- Support CDS book-entry processing for Canadian issues.
- Process warrant exercises, debenture and note conversions, subscription receipt and escrow releases, redemptions and interest payments accurately and on deadline.
- Prepare, verify and release incoming and outgoing wires with Finance and Payments, ensuring all supporting documents and approvals are in place.
- Review transaction documentation against the governing agreements (indentures, warrant indentures and escrow agreements) before processing.
- Reconcile securities positions and cash balances across internal records, DTC/CDS and bank accounts, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain complete, organized records for each corporate trust appointment.
- Perform regular audits of internal records and systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal controls.
- Support the preparation and reconciliation of month-end corporate trust billing.
- Work with Compliance on KYC/AML onboarding and regulatory documentation.
- Respond to operational inquiries from clients, legal counsel, brokers and securityholders.
- Identify process improvements and help document procedures, controls and checklists.
- Other duties as required.
- 2+ years of back-office operations experience at a trust company, transfer agent, custodian, paying agent, broker-dealer or bank
- Hands-on DTC operational experience (e.g., DWAC, FAST, ATOP, corporate actions and P&I processing) is strongly preferred
- CDS experience is an asset
- Solid understanding of securities settlement, corporate actions and reconciliations
- Experience processing and verifying wire payments (SWIFT, Fedwire, Lynx) is an asset
- Knowledge of corporate trust, or experience as a securities paralegal, is an asset
- Strong Excel skills and a high level of accuracy with data
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a busy environment with changing priorities
- University degree or diploma (preferred, not required)
- Pro-active attitude and “how can I help?” perspective
Paid Time Off: Vacation, Flex Days, Birthday Day off, Bonus Day
Benefits: Health and Dental, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, AD&D, Employee Assistance Program, $500 Health Savings Account, RRSP Match.
This is an open position to be filled in Vancouver or Toronto.
We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. By submitting your resume, you consent to the collection, use and necessary disclosure of the personal information provided during the application and selection process.
We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
