About Offworld:
Offworld Industries Ltd. (Offworld) is the independent studio behind the successful military first-person shooter game, “Squad”. Offworld was formed in 2014 by more than 15 developers who had worked together on the well-known Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. The founding purpose of the team was to bring a standalone successor of this acclaimed mod to market and build a game development studio and a livelihood from that foundation.
Fast forward to 2026, Offworld has over 150 employees and is rapidly growing. We have been expanding the studio into serving as a publisher supporting mods and have released our newest title, "Starship Troopers: Extermination", a 16-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film.

We are looking for a seasoned Technical Animator to join our studio. This position will focus on content creation and the UE5 engine works on the Animation side.
Job Duties:
- Develop high-quality full body and first person animations for gameplay characters. Ensuring alignment with artistic direction and technical standards.
- Be able to set up the rig for characters, weapons, vehicles, and props.
- Collaborate with Designers and Programmers to implement animations in engine using expert skills in Maya and proprietary engine tools.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise.
- Ability to utilize motion capture data and hand key animation to create believable characters.
- Gameplay responsibilities can include hero traversal, combat, boss, gameplay camera cinematography, mission and open world animations at the highest level using advanced skills in game engine tools.
- Work with the Animation team to guarantee cohesive execution of the established animation direction across the game, providing constructive feedback as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with other disciplines, including Designers, Programmers, Writers, Project Managers, Art, Audio, Character and Rigging teams, to resolve issues and achieve project goals.

Requirements:
- Expert understanding of movement, pose and timing.
- Expert understanding of the nuances of first person viewport animation.
- Solid skillset to create the mech/props animation is a plus.
- Ability to create creature animation in various styles is a plus
- Ability to work from reference materials such as video recording or already established animation.
- Solid knowledge of rigging.
- Solid knowledge of the animation process in Maya or equivalent software.
- Understanding of the technical constraints in game development and ability to apply them when animating.
- Organized and clean workflow, compatible with a collaborative environment.
- Effective communication skills across all levels and organizations.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Experience
- End to end Game Development Experience. 2 or more shipped titles desirable.
- 5+ years animation creation experience in Game/CG industry
Computer Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of 3D software (Maya, Blender), process of Motion Capture, and Unreal Engine 5.
- Knowledge of common state machine flow in any game engine is required.
Software Skills:
- Character Animation & Rigging - Maya or Blender
- Unreal Engine 5
- Mocap, Motion Builder (a plus)
- C++ (a plus)
- Jira (a plus)
This is a 12-month fixed-term position, with the requirement to work from our office three days per week. There is the possibility of an extension or transition to a permanent role based on the needs of the business.
The typical salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 CAD per year and is subject to change. The final agreed upon salary is based on work location and may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
