\nPosition Summary

The Enterprise Systems Team Lead leads the operations, integration, maintenance and support of software solutions that underpin Okanagan College’s core enterprise systems, including Banner ERP and related institutional platforms.

This role blends hands-on technical leadership with operational accountability. This includes ensuring enterprise applications, integrations, and data services are stable, secure, and continuously improved. The position plays a central role in evolving legacy and modern systems alike, incorporating automation and AI capabilities where they improve efficiency, insight, and service delivery.

Reporting to the Associate Director, IT Operations and Infrastructure, the Team Lead works closely with programmer analysts, business analysts and institutional stakeholders to translate operational needs and product priorities into scalable, maintainable solutions that support student, academic, and administrative functions.

Job Duties

Enterprise Systems Ownership & Delivery

Lead the full lifecycle delivery and support of enterprise applications, with a focus on Banner ERP, integrations, and institutional systems.
Ensure reliability, performance, and availability of production systems, including proactive monitoring, maintenance, and issue resolution.
Oversee and approve changes to production systems, including application releases, integrations, configurations, and data workflows.
Maintain deep understanding of enterprise system architecture, data flows, and cross-system dependencies.

Development, Integration & Modernization

Design and deliver integrations between Banner and internal/external systems using modern APIs, middleware, and orchestration patterns.
Drive modernization of legacy systems through refactoring, re-platforming, and incremental replacement strategies.
Identify opportunities to automate institutional workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve data accuracy and accessibility.
Build and support solutions that incorporate AI and automation capabilities where they provide measurable value.

AI & Automation Enablement

Introduce and integrate AI-powered capabilities (e.g., intelligent workflows, generative AI enhancements, data insights) into enterprise applications and services.
Evaluate and implement AI tools in alignment with enterprise architecture, data governance, and security requirements.
Ensure AI-enabled solutions meet the same standards of reliability, maintainability, and compliance as traditional systems.

Technical Leadership & Governance

Establish and enforce development standards, architectural patterns, and integration practices for enterprise systems.
Ensure solutions align with security, privacy, and data governance requirements, particularly for sensitive institutional data.
Contribute to technical strategy, platform selection, and long-term roadmap planning for enterprise systems.
Surface system risks, technical debt, and capacity constraints, providing actionable recommendations.

Collaboration & Institutional Alignment

Partner with Product Coordinators to translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
Collaborate with functional stakeholders across Finance, HR, Student Services, and Academic areas to support enterprise processes.
Support data-informed decision-making by enabling access to reliable and integrated enterprise data.

People Leadership

Lead, mentor, and support a team of programmer analysts, fostering technical growth and strong delivery practices.
Review work, provide technical guidance, and ensure consistent quality across development and support activities.
Recruit, hire, orient, and develop staff, including management of performance expectations and annual reviews
Coordinate work across internal resources, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment and delivery continuity.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Skills and Abilities

A four-year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of 6 years of progressive, hands-on experience in enterprise systems, software development, or systems integration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated experience supporting and enhancing large-scale enterprise systems, ideally including ERP platforms such as Banner.
Strong experience in systems integration, APIs, data exchange, and enterprise data management.
Proven ability to lead or coordinate technical teams, including mentoring, work review, and delivery oversight.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, change management, and production support practices.
Experience working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and enterprise data structures.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, automation tools, and modern development practices (CI/CD, DevOps).
Practical experience incorporating automation or AI capabilities into enterprise systems is an asset.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a complex environment.
Experience in a post-secondary or similarly complex institutional environment is strongly preferred.
